Overview

A landmark of the Dubai skyline, the extraordinary Jumeirah Burj Al Arab Dubai soars some 321 metres high and is, quite literally, the height of luxury. Start your stay in style and charter a Rolls-Royce Phantom from the hotel’s own fleet to transport you here, where lavish two-storey suites, superb dining options and a giant pool terrace, hovering over the Arabian Gulf, await. Grown-ups will love the adult-only infinity pool and 18th-floor Talise Spa, while families have access to two kids’ clubs at two sister resorts, as well as the Wild Wadi Waterpark, with a 360-metre-long lazy river and the Middle East’s largest wave pool.

Standing majestically on its own private man-made island, the resort is sat across the shore from Jumeirah Beach, accessible via a private road on top of the water. Because of its unique position, the resort has no neighbours and far-reaching views out to the city, marina or gulf. Though it’s secluded, sister resorts Jumeirah Al Qasr and Jumeirah Beach Hotel are within walking distance (both under a mile away), where children can access the kids’ clubs, and the Wild Wadi Waterpark is sat on the mainland, just behind the hotel. Further afield, Downtown Dubai’s impressively choreographed Dubai Fountain, the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa, and the luxury shops of Dubai Mall are ten miles away. The city’s historic commercial centre, Dubai Creek, where you can explore the waterways on a traditional abra boat, and Dubai International Airport are under 17 miles away.

Designed to represent the billowing sail of an Arabian dhow, the Jumeirah Burj Al Arab Dubai is the tallest all-suite hotel in the world. Within its exoskeleton, the colourful lobby hosts a waterfall and atrium, which gives you a glance up through the hotel’s colourful balcony-lined belly. Set along the internal balconies, superbly spacious suites are split over two levels, connected by an elegant spiral staircase, and feature floor-to-ceiling windows, overlooking the Palm, Marina or Arabian Gulf, as well as luxurious textures and lively colours. Bathrooms are lavishly appointed with marble, gold leaf decor and Hermes toiletries. Curtains, lighting and the TV are remote controlled through a single device.

Deluxe Marina or Palm Suites feature one bedroom on the upper floor and a powder room on the ground floor. Club One Bedroom Suites have double-height ceilings, while Deluxe Two Bedroom Suites have a play area for little ones and entertainment for teens. Also ideal for families, Burj Two Bedroom Family Suites have exclusive kids’ amenities on arrival, as well as a kitchen and a separate guest bedroom. For the ultimate in luxury, choose a Diplomatic Three Bedroom Suite for three bedrooms, three bathrooms with Jacuzzis, three living areas, a separate staff entrance and a butler’s kitchen. Alternatively, the Presidential Two Bedroom Suite has a personalised in-suite bar, two dressing rooms and a private library.

Extending 100 metres over the gulf, the unique Burj Al Arab Terrace features two temperature-controlled pools – one family friendly and one adult-only infinity style, with four Jacuzzis. There’s even a sandy man-made beach, and three different air-conditioned cabana options for rental.

Boasting the luxury and space that only Burj Al Arab offers, Talise Spa is found on the 18th floor, offering an indoor pool and hot tub, in addition to facials, body treatments, rituals, hair and scalp treatments and massages. Try a Golden Amber ritual, combining an Arabian golden amber oil massage to calm and heal fatigue, followed by a facial with a red clay mask to reveal radiance. A fitness centre provides Technogym equipment and gulf views, as well as a timetable of classes including strength training and ab workouts.

Young guests can enjoy complimentary access to Sinbad’s Kids Club at Jumeirah Al Qasr and the KiDS Club at Jumeirah Beach Hotel, where board games, Lego building, arts and crafts and gaming activities are organised by trained staff. As a guest of the Burj Al Arab, you’ll also have complimentary access to Wild Wadi Waterpark, which includes a 360-metre-long lazy river, surfing simulations, towering waterslides, a water rollercoaster, interactive playground and the largest wave pool in the Middle East.

You may wish to know that there are two aquariums in the lobby, either side of the entrance, and an additional elliptical aquarium in the Al Mahara restaurant.

Dining information

In the mornings, the Middle East meets Europe at Bab Al Yam, offering a breakfast spread with Arabian Gulf views. On the extensive pool terrace, Sal restaurant is an elegant venue serving southern Mediterranean dishes. When you’re chilling poolside tuck into light bites, salads, sandwiches and tempting main courses, including truffle pizza and lobster rolls. The evening menu includes king crab pasta and tomahawk steaks and there’s a dedicated menu for vegetarian and vegan dishes, too.

For a Michelin-starred experience for lunch and dinner, visit Al Muntaha, where caviar and bluefin tuna pasta features on the menu, or head to Ristorante L'Olivo at Al Mahara. Here, a Mediterranean seafood menu has been masterminded by Chef Andrea Migliaccio, from Capri’s Michelin-starred ‘Ristorante L’Olivo.

Meaning ‘reception of the house’ in Arabic, Sahn Eddar is found in the lobby, offering casual international dining throughout the afternoon and evening. Elsewhere, Skyview Bar hosts scenic views from the 27th floor and a menu of savoury dishes, including truffle gougere, ceviche and arancini, as well as a huge collection of cocktails including the signature passion fruit and cucumber martinis.
