Sugar Bay Barbados is a vibrant all-inclusive resort set on 150 metres of white sandy beachfront. It boasts lush tropical grounds and a protected lagoon for safe water swimming. Offering contemporary accommodation and friendly service, this hotel appeals to a wide range of travellers with its late-night bar, small spa and two swimming pools. Families are especially well catered for with a choice of quality restaurants, games rooms and kids’ club activities.
The resort lies on the livelier south coast of Barbados, in the historic Garrison area. It’s only three miles from the centre of Bridgetown, and there are shops, bars and restaurants within walking distance. The bustling hub of St Lawrence Gap can be reached in just over two miles. Slightly further afield (four and a half miles away), you’ll find Ostins – a small fishing village which is famed for its Friday night ‘Fish Fry’. Grantley Adams International Airport is just under ten miles away.
The hotel exudes a chic beach vibe throughout. Across all 138 spacious rooms, you’ll find grey walls, white wicker furnishings and splashes of bright colour in the artwork. Each room features a furnished balcony or terrace with views across the gardens, pool or oceanfront. Also included are coffee and tea facilities, mini-fridge, flat-screen TV and Wi-Fi. Bathrooms are modern in design, offering a shower, robes and toiletries by The White Company. Rooms are divided into three categories: Signature, Family and Oceanfront. Signature Rooms provide pool or garden views whilst Oceanfront Rooms offer preferable views of the Caribbean Sea. Family Rooms are ideal for larger groups, providing separate bedroom and living areas (including a pull-out sofa bed).

A range of activities are on offer in resort, designed to entertain guests of all ages. Choose from non-motorised water sports (snorkelling, kayaking and boogie boarding) and beach volleyball, to working out at the small fitness centre or relaxing at the beauty salon. You can book a rejuvenating spa treatment in the Karma spa, while the little ones make the most of the kids’ club or teen club house.
The Kids’ Club is for children up to the age 11, whilst older kids can make use of the Teen Clubhouse – a zone where they can read, socialise, play video games or watch films. There’s even an arcade and games room for all ages at Chattel Plaza, which is outfitted with pool, foosball and air hockey tables. A creche is also offered, free of charge, for babies aged between four months to three years of age.
After all the action, unwind by the main swimming pool which is accented with tropical plants, a swim-up bar and sun loungers. There’s a separate splash pool for children and the swim-up bar pool is supposed to be for adults-only (although this is not always upheld by staff). If the main pool area gets busy, you can always head to the quieter pool or the beach. Soak up the sun on a hammock, making the most of pool and beachside service, or take a dip in the ocean. Feel free to grab a book from the indoor library or head to Colin’s Beach Bar – a traditional rum shop by the beach.
Before you leave, visit La Tienda, an on-site gift shop which is ideal for purchasing last-minute souvenirs and artisan products. Also be sure to make use of the hospitality lounge for early check-ins or late check-outs.
Sugar Bay Barbados offers a selection of restaurants and bars, giving you ample choice during your all-inclusive stay. Reef Restaurant is a laid-back, beachfront affair, specialising in international and Caribbean dishes. Head here for buffet breakfasts, light lunches, or buffet dinners – or to indulge in afternoon tea. Enjoy dinner at UMI, a stylish Asian-fusion restaurant with a diverse a la carte menu and themed cocktail list. For succulent steaks and tempting sides, try Sizzle Steakhouse. In the daytime, make the most of Colin’s Beach Bar & Grill, a casual beachside eatery which is open from noon. Sample local comfort food, Bajan deserts and traditional rum mixes in an alfresco beachside setting. Alternatively, savour hot beverages, bagels, pastries, cakes and salads at Blush Cafe (not included in the all-inclusive package).
Spend time in the different bars, including the swim up pool bar, Reef Bar, Sizzle Bar, Colin’s Beach Bar. There’s also the unique Lazy Mongoose Pub which stays open later and a manager’s cocktail party every Tuesday.
