Take a break at the five-star Hilton Molino Stucky, set in an idyllic location with a seasonal rooftop pool. Named after a Venetian entrepreneur, the former flourmill on Giudecca Island is now a modern sanctuary that helps visitors to escape the hustle and bustle of the tourists.

Just along the banks of Giudecca Island, the hotel sits comfortably away from the crowds of tourists on Venice’s main island. Hop on one of the hotel’s shuttle boats that dock in the heart of the Floating City, a local fee applies. They come and go every 30 minutes. You’ll arrive at St Mark’s Square in around 15 minutes, or Zattere in around five minutes. You can reach Venice Airport by train from Venice’s central station in about an hour. Otherwise, jump on the public water taxi from the airport to the front of the hotel, costing around 15 euros with a transfer time of around an hour and a half.

The Hilton Molino Stucky offers over 370 rooms. The comfortable bedrooms, ranging from 23 m2 to 30 m2, feature a 40-inch television and tea and coffee making facilities. Upgrade your stay to an Executive Room for exclusive access to the Executive Lounge – which offers a variety of complimentary drinks and snacks. Select the Executive Room with View to get the best glimpse of Venice below.

The best features of the hotel are the rooftop pool and Skyline Rooftop Bar on the eighth floor. The open-air pool is open from mid-May to September, with great views of the bell tower of San Marco. Unwind on a sun lounger by the city’s highest pool during summer, or enjoy a sundowner cocktail at the rooftop bar any time of year. Indoors, you can also enjoy the beautiful spa. There’s a steam room, sauna and Jacuzzi. Please note that you’ll need to book in advance and spa access costs 20 euros. Treatments are also available for an additional cost. The hotel also has a 24-hour fitness centre with free weights and various aerobic exercise machines. If you’re venturing out, the concierge will be happy to give you directions.

Start your day with a delicious Hilton buffet breakfast at Il Molino restaurant. Choose from a variety of fresh fruit, yogurts, cooked breakfast bites, cold meats and cheeses, as well as waffles, pancakes and pastries. In the evening, take a seat in Bacaromi for typical Venetian cuisine. They serve creamy risotto, homemade pasta dishes and fresh seafood. Be sure to try the classically Italian tiramisu for dessert. Dine on the terrace during the summer months – or choose Aromi, open seasonally, for Italian dishes made with tantalising local ingredients. Order a mix of antipasti, followed by gnocchi or a lobster dish – the choice is yours.
