Climb the Sydney Harbour Bridge for stunning views and one of the most exhilarating experiences. Capture the iconic Sydney Opera House on camera and take a harbour cruise to get your bearings. Explore the oldest area of Sydney – the Rocks, with its laidback cafes and restaurants. Visit Taronga Zoo – an award-winning attraction that is home to more than 2,900 exotic and native species.

Beaches

Bondi beach is probably one of the most iconic beaches in Australia – a great place to learn how to surf. Catch the Manly ferry from Circular Quay to Manly beach for an excellent vantage point of Sydney’s iconic sights in full splendour. Take a short stroll to Shelly Beach, armed with a picnic, and find a shaded spot for a leisurely lunch. Head to Palm Beach – this long stretch is frequently the film set for Home and Away filming. Or for active pursuits there’s no better place than Cronulla Beach. Families will particularly love spending time exploring the rock pools.

Quay Restaurant in The Rocks was voted number 29 in the S. Pellegrino World’s 50 best restaurants. Enjoy fine seafood, local cuisine and Brazilian Churrasco at Wildfire. Bondi Beach is home to Blue Orange restaurant, with modern Australian favourites like corned beef sandwiches and salmon salads. Seek out Harry’s Café de Wheels in Wooloomooloo for ‘pies n’ peas. If it’s good enough for the likes of Russell Crowe I’m sure you’ll not be disappointed.

For the widest choice of fashion retailers head to Oxford Street. Or if you want the ease of shopping under one roof, the architecturally splendid Queen Victoria Building houses over 180 shops and boutiques. Westfield shopping centre is located at the base of Centrepoint Tower. The Rocks quarter has a fantastic selection of handicraft shops, patisseries and the oldest pub in the country. For high-end designer boutiques, shops and eateries visit Double Bay.

NIGHTLIFE

Nightlife

Kings Cross is recognised as one of the liveliest areas of Sydney packed with bars, clubs and nightclubs. In recent years Oxford Street has also earned a reputation as Sydney’s nightclub strip. Darling Harbour is packed with some of the city’s hottest nightspots, from sports to cocktail bars and nightclubs. Or for a more laid-back scene, head to the Rocks quarter – numerous pubs offer plenty of live music and laughter.
