Find your perfect brasserie off the central Place de la Comédie for lunch. Seafood’s always on the menu. The city hosts an excellent art museum for European masters, the Musée Fabre. Visit the university’s Museums of the Faculty of Medicine. Then, have a sunlit summer stroll through Antigone, a whole district built to impress, with stadium-sized crescents and jumbo boulevards. To easily explore the southern coast of France and the winemaking villages that have grown out of the rich volcanic soil, hire a car. Slow travel through Montpellier is magnificent, too; hike out on Pic de Saint-Loup, the limestone crag beyond the city, and try the local rosé.
From May 2023 we'll be flying to Montpellier from London Gatwick during the summer months.
