From tense horror to edge-of-your-seat drama and laugh-out-loud comedy, our selection of award-worthy films has something to satisfy all tastes. For fans of cult classics, look no further than Martin Scorsese’s epic crime-drama Goodfellas. Upon its release in 1990 it earned a multitude of accolades, including an Oscar for Joe Pesci as Best Supporting Actor. For a classic with more bite than a mafia crime syndicate, check out Sir Ridley Scott’s ground-breaking 1979 sci-fi horror Alien, in which a space crew are hunted by a terrifying extra-terrestrial. More monsters appear in iconic psychological horror Silence of the Lambs, but this time the beast is human. Anthony Hopkins gives a chilling performance as the incarcerated cannibal murderer Dr Hannibal Lecter. For something more light-hearted try five-time Oscar winner The Artist, a jubilant modern take on the silent movies of the 1920s.  The dark humour of 2018 Oscar winner Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri will have you torn between laughter and tears and prepare for more intense emotions while watching fellow 2018 Oscar winner Dunkirk, which follows the plight of some 400,000 soldiers during World War II.
