Murder On The Orient Express

Agatha Christie’s classic tale Murder On The Orient Express is reworked for the silver screen once more. This time Kenneth Branagh directs and also stars in the lead role, as the moustachioed Belgian detective, Hercule Poirot. Set in 1934, the plot follows several guests aboard a luxurious Orient Express locomotive, all of whom become suspects when a passenger is murdered. The film boasts a stellar cast, including Jonny Depp, Willem Dafoe and Penélope Cruz, and equally impressive sets. “I wanted you to feel the snow and smell the steam,” says Branagh of the film’s lush aesthetic. The result is a visually dazzling movie that’s exemplary of the ‘whodunit’ genre.
