The scenery of Banff, Banff National Park and the Rocky Mountains is a long day's drive (8-9 hours) east, but well worth it. It is part of a UNESCO world heritage site and offers top class winter facilities for skiing. In the summer it is also full of activities or you can drive and explore other parts of Alberta.

Take in the views from Grouse Mountain (The Peak of Vancouver), go for a walk on a suspension bridge or enjoy one of the many outdoor recreation opportunities -- hiking, mountain biking, skiing/snowboarding, kayaking – and more that are on offer. The most popular summer activity in the area is hiking the 'Grouse Grind', a 2.9 km, 853 m elevation gain hike up the side of Grouse mountain.

Whistler – 1 day.

Squamish is about half way between Vancouver and Whistler, offering a wealth of outdoor recreational activities. Whistler (about 1.5 hour’s drive from Vancouver) is mandatory when you are in this region. In the winter, enjoy some of the best skiing in North America and in the summer try some authentic mountain biking. This lovely village provides a great selection for active people and is littered with bars, restaurants and pubs to entertain.

Okanagan – 2 days.

This is a four to five hour drive east, with a large number of wineries, water activities in the summer and skiing in the winter. It is a popular location for sun seekers and outdoor enthusiasts. There are many museums in the area, aimed towards the local history, golfing and camping are also popular activities.
