Keep your eyes peeled for Vik and his chic fisherman’s shack – here you can tuck into fresh sea urchins and taste rum. You can also relax around one of five pristine swimming pools on the property, or in one of the intimate chalets dotted around the tranquil gardens.

If you feel like exercising, there’s a free on-site fitness centre and personal fitness training sessions (for a supplement), as well as complimentary yoga classes in the gardens or on the beach. The hotel also offers innovative FloatFit sessions, which combine HIIT and yoga practices on a floating device in the swimming pool. Otherwise, you can play beach volleyball or tennis – or head to the Hotel Boat House to participate in complimentary water skiing, kayaking, sailing or paddleboarding. Kitesurfing, coastal horse riding and swimming with dolphins are also very popular recreations, although these are offered for a supplement, and animal welfare should always be considered. If you wish to venture outside of the hotel grounds, complimentary mountain bikes are available, so you can discover the island’s breath-taking beauty.

While children are busy with creative, supervised activities at the kids' club – whether it be a treasure hunt, tennis session or art class – adults can unleash their creativity at the Junk Art Studio. The local artist hosts a variety of specialist art workshops uses recycled materials such as bottles, shells, stones and lace.

As the sun begins to set, head to the pop-up bar to listen to live saxophone music and take in the light show. For an additional cost, the hotel also offers a memorable drive to witness a spectacular sunset across the Indian Ocean from the summit of Le Morne. Here, a private butler will then serve you with a choice of aperitifs and chef-prepared snacks.

Throughout the resort, single-use plastics are banned, water saving devices are built into taps and showerheads, and gardens are watered with desalinated water.

You can enjoy the diverse culinary offerings at LUX* Le Morne, whether you’re seeking beachside delights, local cuisine or exotic flavours from around the world. The Kitchen is the main restaurant, offering sumptuous buffet breakfasts, lunches and dinners, complete with authentic local island entertainment. The open-plan show kitchen allows you to watch chefs preparing international and traditional dishes, whether its pancakes for breakfast or Mauritian chicken curry for dinner. For a light Mediterranean lunch or dinner, try The Beach; it offers a tempting a la carte menu of healthier dishes and favourites, such as fresh lobster and pizzas. This relaxed restaurant is located directly on the beachfront and offers stunning ocean vistas. East is the romantic, a la carte dinner restaurant, which serves signature Thai specialities on a terrace overlooking the lagoon. Savour authentic wok-fried dishes or creamy, coconut curries, followed by homemade ice creams. There’s also a separate vegetarian menu and a children’s menu here. Although this restaurant is excluded from meal plans, a discount rate is available for guests. For light bites and drinks, The Bar provides an inviting veranda and lively music during the daytime and turns into a vibrant cocktail lounge in the evenings. There’s also Ilot and Oasis which is the swim up bar, serving refreshing cocktails, fresh juices and snacks throughout the day. Maison LUX*, a chic café near the beach, serves Milanese inspired café fare, including coffee and tea round the clock. You can also enjoy pastries, aperitifs and after-dinner digestifs.
