Overview
Located on Venice’s famous Grand Canal, the historical Bauer hotel offers old-world charm close to St Mark’s Square. The hotel occupies two buildings, complete with a fabulous Art Deco lobby and elegant public spaces adorned with classic Murano chandeliers, marble floors and brocade fabrics. Most rooms and suites are traditionally decorated, with high ceilings and spacious modern bathrooms, and some overlook the canal. When you’re not exploring the city, you can relax in the opulent lobby, dine at one of two restaurants and enjoy cocktails on the breathtaking bar terrace, overlooking the Grand Canal and the iconic church of Santa Maria Della Salute.
The Bauer enjoys a privileged position in the heart of Venice, just two blocks (around 300 metres) from St Mark’s Square and various boutique shops. It faces the front of the baroque-style Campo San Moisè church and overlooks the Grand Canal. The hotel boasts a private water dock in Rio di San Moisè canal, just off Venice's Grand Canal, so you can easily hop on a water taxi or enjoy a traditional gondola ride. The main train station, Venice Santa Lucia, is just over a mile away, and you can reach Venice Marco Polo Airport from here on public transport via bus, or by taking the vaporetto boat from San Marc.
The elegant rooms and suites spread across the two palatial buildings. Some rooms in the older building are decorated in a traditional Venetian style, with patterned wallpapers, antique furnishings and Rubelli bedspreads. Meanwhile those in the more modern section have a contemporary flair, with softer colour schemes and Art Deco touches. All rooms are fitted with marble bathrooms and most include a combined bathtub and shower – though select Junior and Executive Suites provide a hydromassage bathtub. For unforgettable views, book a spacious Junior Suite overlooking either the San Moisè Church, or partial views of the Grand Canal. Alternatively, larger Executive Suites boast splendid, sweeping views across the city, covering St Mark’s Basin and parts of the Grand Canal.
