Vista Sol Punta Cana Beach Resort & Spa is a laid-back all-inclusive, family-friendly resort. It features three pools, a kids’ club, spa and fitness centre, as well as a choice of restaurants and bars. This hotel largely appeals to a South American audience, so there may be language barriers impacting service.
The resort is located on the east coast of the country, set on the shores of the stunning Playa Bávaro beach, chosen by UNESCO as one of the top ten most beautiful beaches in the world. There are a few shops and restaurants within walking distance, and the nearest town is Higuey, known for its giant basilica rising from the town centre. The closest golf course is Cocotal Golf and Country Club, just under three miles from the resort, and Punta Cana International Airport is approximately 12 miles away.
This is a compact property offering 548 rooms, set across four storeys. Guest rooms are brightly decorated, but offer basic furnishings which are a little dated in places. They feature a private balcony, flat-screen satellite TV, a fridge with bottled water included and a safe at a charge. The bathrooms include a bath with a shower. Families should opt for a 40m2 Duplex Room on the top floor with spectacular views.

Vista Sol Punta Cana Beach Resort & Spa features three freshwater pools, including one with a swim-up bar and a separate children’s pool. Little ones also have access to the kids’ club and a children’s play area.
For adults, there’s a spa area with a sun terrace, sauna, whirlpool and hammam – in addition to a full menu of face and body treatments. The hotel also boasts a spacious fitness centre equipped with running machines, elliptical trainers and weights.
Hotel activities include tennis, table tennis, beach volleyball and aerobics. There’s a golf course nearby, too. Sun loungers can get snapped up early, especially around the pool and under the shade of neighbouring pine trees.
There are six on-site restaurants and seven bars, including a swim-up bar and sports bar. The main restaurant is spacious with marble floors and Caribbean decoration, with views across the gardens where peacocks happily roam. Buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner are served here. Theme nights, such as Dominican Night, BBQ Night, French Night and Gala Night add a little more variety to the standard buffet, but don’t cater particularly well for plant-based diets.
Be sure to book a table at any of the a la carte restaurants as soon as reservations are released – you can make three dinner reservations per week during your stay (additional reservations can be requested at Guest Services which are subject to availability). The Asian Teppanyaki & Sushi Bar cooks Japanese cuisine at the teppanyaki tables, while Restaurant El Mariachi is a great family-friendly Mexican restaurant. Restaurant Mamma Mia serves homemade fresh pasta and pizza on the beach; and the BBQ American Grill, offers all-American favourites and broadcasts sports events on its two 60-inch LED TVs. You can also make a reservation at the elegant Gourmet Restaurant, which is located next to the Theatre Bar that puts on spectacular stage shows.
