The property occupies the south-eastern side of the peninsula, which can be subject to windy conditions, although a journey along the coast promises a wealthy supply of sheltered beaches. There are numerous natural sites to explore in Mauritius, including the viewpoints of Le Morne Brabant summit which backs the hotel, Chamarel Waterfall (ten miles away) and Black River Gorges National Park (21 miles away). The capital, Port Louis, is 30 miles north and worth a visit for its bustling market. Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport is 35 miles east.

Buffet restaurant La Gaulette is where you’ll go for traditional breakfasts, including eggs cooked to order, bacon and pastries, as well as fragrant curries and Indian style flatbreads. Lunch and dinner are also served here with live cooking stations and two theme nights a week. The vibrant colours, pendant lamps and ornate archways of Bangalore Restaurant transport you to India while plating up fragrant curries and Indian specialities. Elsewhere, there’s a steakhouse serving dinner and a grill offering lunch and snacks.
