The W Maldives is a luxury private island playground, fringed by turquoise lagoons and breathtaking coral reefs. The resort also houses one of the best house reefs, which is ideal for swimming and snorkelling. Male International Airport is westwards, around a 25-minute seaplane journey away.
The spacious beach and overwater villas are decorated in an eclectic, rustic style with thatched roofs, tiled floors and marine-themed accents. They each boast a private sundeck with a plunge pool and direct access to the beach or lagoon. The Fabulous Overwater villas are spacious and open onto a fabulous overwater deck with a plunge pool and a ladder that leads into the ocean. You can upgrade to Wonderful Beach Oasis accommodation, which comprises a large bedroom and living area, a partially open-air bathroom and a dual-level deck with lower and upper-level spaces, located on the beachfront.

This island resort houses a wealth of recreational facilities, including a games lounge, a library, an infinity pool and a state-of-the-art fitness centre with Technogym equipment and ocean views. WAVE and DOWN UNDER are the central water-based activity hubs. At WAVE you can hire kayaks, canoes, paddleboards and snorkelling equipment, although guided snorkelling and catamaran sailing trips are subject to an additional charge. Meanwhile, the DOWN UNDER dive centre provides a range of excursions to incredible nearby sites, including Kandholhudhoo Thila (supplement charges apply). The ESCAPE luxury yacht is available to charter for half or full day excursions including snorkelling or diving, or a private getaway to Gaathafushi castaway island for a secluded picnic or romantic sunset barbecue.
Relax at the overwater AWAY Spa® on the opposite side of the island. Covering 66 m2, the indulgent spa is comprised of several treatment rooms above the house reef. They each feature an outdoor veranda with a dhow-inspired sunshade, a bathtub and a rain shower, which overlook the Indian Ocean.
Dining information
W Maldives features four inviting restaurants and two bars. KITCHEN is the main restaurant, which offers an international menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Breakfast is available in the form of a semi-buffet, with some made-to-order options, while lunch and dinner are served a la carte, with a selection of daily specials.
During the day, you can head to the laidback WET bar for light meals, sweet treats and refreshing drinks. KADA is a pop-up cafe on the beach, where you can order homemade Maldivian dishes, coconut water, fresh juices and more. Alternatively, SIP serves oysters, sushi and caviar with Champagne on an ocean deck. In the evening, this is the perfect spot for sundowners and DJ music. Feast on fresh seafood at FISH (open for dinner) or FIRE features a special barbeque menu – whether your meat or seafood is cooked on charcoal, an open-rotisserie or in a tandoor oven.
