As the resort name suggests, there is an emphasis on active lifestyles and wellness here, with activities and sports on offer for all levels and ages. You’ll have your pick of three swimming pools, including the impressive main 10-lane outdoor Olympic-size swimming pool – equipped with floats, hand paddles, pull buoys and fins. There’s also an adult-only pool with a chill-out zone, loungers and parasols and two kids’ pools – one featuring a tube slide and a tipping bucket. The state-of-the-art gym is brimming with cardiovascular, strength training and functional training equipment. Plus, there’s a fitness room for classes led by Les Mills certified instructors and bikes with interactive screen simulations from over 450 online sessions.

Cycling enthusiasts will be in their element here, training on top-of-the-range simulating bikes on a range of virtual routes. The modern and spacious cycling centre has storage, a workshop and bike maintenance service – plus a rental service so you can get out on Lanzarote's bike-friendly, scenic roads, solo or as a group outing.

The resort also welcomes younger members of the family by providing a fun, entertainment programme, designed especially for them. Happy Minds is a programme for 4 to 12 year olds that promotes learning through sports and wellness activities, while ONE is a social and multimedia space for teenagers. There’s also the Barcy Club which features a children’s playground.

In the meantime, switch off and relax in the spa area which features a hot tub and a sauna. Or book a massage from the menu of anti-cellulite, cranial and volcanic stone massages. Additional treatments to be enjoyed include reflexology, O2 Therapy facials and the Hawaiian massage – using forearms, elbows and fists to create rhythmic and fluid movements, simulating the waves of the sea to the rhythm of the ‘hula’ Hawaiian dance.

Outside of the resort, you can access an incredible choice of sports activities – including open water swimming in a small, pleasant cove with crystal-clear water, just opposite the resort. Plus, there’s a network of flat running paths and trails, around the surrounding volcano. In addition, golfers can enjoy a round of golf at the nearby Costa Teguise Golf Club (approximately three miles away). Or keen divers can head over to the local diving school and discover the beautiful marine landscape.

There’s a great selection of dining options at the resort including two a la carte restaurants, two buffet restaurants, three pool bars, two lobby bars and a sports bar.

Olivina and Nimbra are the hotel’s large, spacious buffet restaurants, both open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. They feature hot and cold food stations, as well as live cooking areas where you can savour themed dishes from around the world. Grab a freshly baked treat at Nimbra which also boasts outdoor and indoor seating. For dinner, take a seat at one of the communal benches at KOI Restaurant. The restaurant offers the option to customise dishes and has a sushi island and a live cooking section. Asian dishes are best enjoyed on the terrace on La Plaza. Meanwhile, families will love La Dolce Vita Restaurant, the Italian trattoria, for the best pasta and a variety of home-made pizzas, served piping hot from the pizza oven.

With wellness being the hotel’s priority, you can also enjoy a wide variety of healthy and highly nutritional choices at Breathe Healthy Bar. It’s located next to the Olympic-size pool and near the Fitness area, so you can pop in at any time. Head to the Champs Sports Bar to catch a game on the large screens or relax with a chilled drink at the Breeze Pool Bar. The B-Lounge Lobby Bar is the perfect spot for a coffee while Marella Pool Bar is a great option for families, offering a choice of snacks for little ones. Make a final stop at La Geria Lobby Bar for a cocktail.
