The hotel offers an impressive range of facilities and families couldn’t be more welcome. The kids’ club (for 5- to 12-year-olds) offers a packed plan of activities including adventures into the surrounding sacred Mayan jungle accompanied by friendly animal mascots, arts, crafts and games. In addition, babysitting and child-friendly dining is available.

The Willow Spa is sensational, situated in the heart of the tropical jungle, surrounded by natural lagoons. The spa features a beautiful Mexican garden, outdoor Swiss showers and whirlpools – plus a rooftop vitality pool and sea-mineral soaking pool with a waterfall. Local herbs, essential oils and extracts are used during body and facial treatments, as well as locally inspired experiences which include a Cha Chac Rain ritual and Mayan Bath ritual, among others.

Golf enthusiasts couldn’t be better placed as the resort manages the neighbouring 18-hole El Camaleon golf course, designed by legendary Australian golfer Greg Norman. It’s a stunning par 72 championship course for all abilities, offering a view that constantly changes (as the name suggests) as you wind your way through tropical jungle, mangrove wetlands and the Riviera Maya coastline.

As for water sports, you’ve got plenty to choose from including kayaking, paddle boarding and snorkelling, plus you have access to complimentary guided catamaran tours. The beach itself is beautiful and consists of a long, sweeping crescent of soft, white sand, lapped by the turquoise Caribbean Sea. There’s a plentiful supply of sun loungers under fringed parasols, providing the perfect spot for relaxing with a chilled drink.

Dining information

La Laguna is located in the pool area on its own island, surrounded by the waters of the Mayakoba Lagoon. The restaurant serves buffet breakfast and a la carte dinner, all in a casual, family ambiance. The menu is inspired by Latino-Mexican cuisine, with light and healthy options available. Live local music accompanies dinner most evenings.

Brisas overlooks Fairmont Mayakoba's beautiful white sand beach. A fresh a la carte breakfast is offered daily, followed by an all-day menu from noon. Menu highlights include a mezze, Mediterranean shareable bites and tropical cocktails.

Pop into Cafe Maya for an ice cream or stock up on fresh baked goods — including Mexican pastries, with a specialty coffee or premium tea. Or head over to Aqua for all-day Mexican snacks and locally crafted cocktails. Be sure to try the house Margarita and traditional Mexican antojitos at La Cantina.

Both lunch and dinner are served at Fuego at Maykana. It's the perfect feet-in-the-sand spot for outdoor dining on the wood fire grill. For sushi and small bites, take a seat at Hix Bar & Lobby Lounge. It's located next to the main lobby and offers panoramic views of the water canals and Riviera Maya’s landscape.

There's a great range of dinner options available including Tauro Steakhouse for in-house, dry-aging prime cuts and steakhouse classics. Bassano brings a menu of Italian comfort dishes, as well as pizzas baked to order in the restaurant's outdoor pizza oven. Otherwise, stop by Gaia for a feast of fresh, local seafood or Ki Korean BBQ for an outstanding oceanside grill experience.

Sip a cocktail on a swing at the vibrant Ki Beach Bar during the day, otherwise catch the sunset at Cielo — the hotel's adult-only rooftop lounge bar.

Additional information

The resort fee includes three hours per day of supervised kids' club (09:00 to 12:00 or 17:00 to 20:00) for children aged between 5 and 12 years, an on-property bird watching boat tour and use of BMW bicycles to explore the property. Access to the fitness centre, tennis and paddle courts and use of rackets and balls are also included as is 24-hour transportation and transfers to other resorts inside Mayakoba, El Pueblito at Mayakoba and to the golf course, El Camaleon. Non-motorised water sports, including kayaks, guided catamaran tours, stand-up paddle and windsurf on stand-up paddle boards are part of the resort fee, plus Wi-Fi in rooms and common areas, valet parking (one vehicle per room), housekeeping twice daily and gratuity, bellman service and gratuity, 24-hour concierge service and pool concierge.
