This large, oceanside resort has a fun and friendly atmosphere. Its family orientated-focus is evident through the number of smiling and giggling children, obviously having a good time. The hotel is set within 30 acres of lush grounds, with waterfalls, tropical flowers and a nine-hole golf course.
Almond Beach Village has a great kids' club. It offers educational fun, with activities tailored by age, from newborns to teens. There are playgrounds, children's pools and games centres all supervised by trained staff. Babysitting is also available for an additional fee.
Rooms have ocean, pool or garden views. WiFi is available in the hotel lobby free of charge. Located on a former sugar plantation on the west coast of Barbados, this hotel has retained many historical features. These include a sugar mill that you can get married in.
The hotel has five restaurants. Horizons is the main restaurant and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. The buffet-style breakfast is complemented by made-to-order omelettes. A British-style high tea is served every afternoon. Classic Bajan cuisine is served in Enid's Restaurant, which is open for dinner only. The Reef is located at the ocean's edge. It offers a buffet breakfast and lunch. In the evening it becomes a seafood restaurant. La Samarrita is reserved for the over 16s and offers an Italian, dinner-only menu. The Boardwalk Bar & Grill serves a casual lunch. There are also four bars and a nightclub.
The resort enjoys over a mile of sandy beach and offers a range of complimentary water sports. These include Hobie Cat sailing, snorkelling, waterskiing, windsurfing, aqua cycles, kayaks, fishing and banana boats. The fitness centre is open all day and is also free. The tennis courts are floodlit to allow for play in the late evening.
