Overview

Barcelo Aruba is a beachside, all-inclusive resort, located on the northern coast of the island. This family-friendly hotel boasts a kids’ club, a great choice of sports activities, pool, spa and fitness studio. There are six on-site restaurants, including a Caribbean-style seafood restaurant on the beach, as well as a casino.

The resort is situated on Palm Beach, known for its calm, warm turquoise waters, fine white sand and palm trees. Plenty of restaurants and bars are dotted along this two-mile stretch of coastline, as are two of the nation’s largest shopping malls. Local attractions include the nightly Disney themed water show at Plaza Padu, and the Aruba Aloe Factory, Museum and Store – one of the few companies that grows, harvests and processes aloe on site. The rugged, natural landscape of Conchi and its Natural Pool are ten miles west, accessible on foot or a 4x4 wheel vehicle. The resort is just over eight miles from Queen Beatrix International Airport.

All rooms feature a balcony and are spacious, decorated with plenty of dark furniture, commonly seen in the Caribbean. Soft furnishings add a pop of Royal blue colour while the in-room minibar is well stocked with soft drinks, beers and bottled water. Those wishing to be near to the resort’s communal areas should opt for a Deluxe Room which are located at reception level.

In addition to direct beach access, the hotel also offers a large lagoon-style outdoor pool, featuring two hydromassage areas. The pool is surrounded by loungers and hammocks, with palm trees for shade.

The fitness studio is equipped with treadmills, elliptical trainers, free weights and toning equipment – or you can enjoy a massage or beauty treatment in the spa (in-room massages can also be booked). Sports facilities include two floodlit tennis courts. You can play darts and pétanque, kayak or take classes in water polo and water aerobics. Scuba diving equipment is at an extra charge and can be hired locally. Meanwhile, golf enthusiasts can tee off at The Links at Divi Aruba and Tierra del Sol, about three miles away on the northwest tip of the island.

The hotel also offers a kids’ club for children aged between 4 to 12.

There’s plenty of evening entertainment and live music, plus the hotel’s on-site casino boasts 120 slot machines and five gaming tables.

Dining information

The Palm is the hotel’s international buffet restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and themed dinners. It offers both indoor and outdoor terrace seating, overlooking the pool. Hit the Beach Club for grilled specialties, soups, and salads. The Arubian Seafood restaurant also sits by the beach with a menu of Caribbean fusion cuisine, specialising in meat and fresh seafood – best enjoyed on the terrace. L’Olio is the hotel’s a la carte Italian restaurant, while Mexico Lindo prepares all your favourite Tex-Mex dishes, complimented by tequila or wine. For something special, savour Japanese dishes made fresh to order at Kyoto. They have two teppanyaki tables, two private tatami tables and a large sushi bar.
