London City Airport redevelopment

London City Airport is changing. Following the launch of its 15-year master plan, including a commitment to achieving carbon neutral status by 2020 and net zero emissions by 2050, development work has begun on site to make the passenger experience even better and create an airport for the future that serves everyone.

The intention is for the airport to remain fully open during these exciting developments and it is important to British Airways that our customers are kept informed and looked after in the event of any disruption to your journey for any reason.

Whilst building work is underway, there may at times be short delays for aircraft to reach their parking stands, and buses may be used to transport customers safely to the arrivals area or from departure gates. We will be able to let you know in good time of any useful information to help with your journey to and through the airport, so you can relax and enjoy your flight with us.

Travelling to/from London City

There is only one terminal at London City airport so travelling is quicker than at other London airports. You must meet the following times, or you will not be allowed to travel:

  • Check in closes 20 minutes before your flight departs.
  • Pass through Security at least 20 minutes before your flight departs.
  • Be at your boarding gate at least 10 minutes before your flight. If we have your contact details, we will try to contact you when it is about to close but we will not delay the aircraft's departure to wait for late passengers.
