Overview

Jumby Bay Island is a luxurious, all-inclusive retreat that’s set on a 300-acre private island, just two miles off Antigua’s north east coast. The island’s idyllic white beaches, impressive dining options, serene spa and sumptuous accommodation make it a haven for discerning travellers, while the kids’ club and range of activities appeal to families. Days can be spent relaxing around three alluring pools, exploring the island on complimentary bikes and snorkelling in the secluded bay.

Jumby Bay Island, also known as Long Island, is located off the northern tip of the Parham Peninsula, around two miles from Antigua’s mainland. The hotel’s complimentary catamarans can whisk you from the jetty at Winthrop’s Bay to the island in less than ten minutes. The main crescent beach stretches along the coastline for half a mile, fringed with palm trees and kissed by the Caribbean Sea. On the island’s northern tip, you’ll find the beautiful Pasture Bay Beach, which is a popular nesting spot for endangered hawksbill sea turtles. The included boat transfers to this island paradise from V.C. Bird International Airport take around 15 minutes.

The contemporary suites and villas are beautifully decorated in soothing blue and ivory tones. Even the Standard Beachfront Suites provide high-end amenities, a living area, a private terrace with spectacular sea views and an outdoor garden shower and soaking tub. If you prefer your own private pool, upgrade to a one-bedroom Pool Suite with beach views. Alternatively, large groups and families may prefer to stay along the beachfront in a 3 Bedroom Sea Hare Villa with three separate bedrooms, three en-suite bathrooms, a living room, dining room, fully equipped kitchen and private beach deck with an infinity-edged pool.

Other facilities

Jumby Bay Island offers plenty of opportunities to relax. You recline on a sun lounger along the beach, taking advantage of beachside waiter service, or walk among the garden’s swaying palm trees, gazing at the rare tropical flowers and lush foliage. You can also lounge around the beachfront pool or family-friendly garden pool, before retreating to the open-air Jumby Bay Spa with ocean view treatment rooms. The spa’s treatment menu includes a range of massages, facials and body therapies, all of which use local and organic ingredients.

Aquatic lovers can snorkel around the bay or try a range of non-motorised water sports, such as sailing, water skiing, kayaking and windsurfing. Complimentary bicycles for adults and children are also available, and there's a fitness centre, croquet lawn, putting green and yoga pavilion on site. Otherwise, you can play tennis on three courts, tour the gardens and watch movies on the beach in the evenings. Golfing trips, local excursions, scuba-diving courses, island picnics and other activities are available for an additional charge.

Families are well catered for, too. Camp Jumby Pavilion kids’ club offers a host of exciting activities for children between the ages of 3 and 11, including supervised nature trips cooking classes, creative workshops and dancing lessons. The Jumby Explorers programme gives children the chance to take part in turtle conservation efforts with specialist researchers. Teens can also participate in a range of age-appropriate activities, ranging from beach volleyball games to mocktail mixology classes. Babysitting service is available at an additional charge.

Dining information

The Veranda restaurant and bar is Jumby Bay Island’s main restaurant. Located by the beach, it serves breakfast, lunch and dinner overlooking the Caribbean Sea. A choice of a la carte specialties are available at breakfast, in addition to a continental selection of fresh fruits, breads, pastries and more. Dishes incorporate produce from Jumby Bay’s own farm, and the Italian-inspired menu includes freshly caught seafood, premium steaks, homemade pasta and sweet treats.

When you’re relaxing by the pool, the Pool Grille and Bar provides casual lunches, refreshing cocktails, smoothies, snacks and homemade ice creams. Alternatively, you can order fruit sorbets, sandwiches or drinks at Genny’s Bar on the beach. Find a table at The Estate House for fine dining with traditional West Indian flavours, or enjoy one of the many pop-up dining experiences, from ‘White Night Beach BBQs’ to rustic a la carte dinners at the farm. In-suite dining, picnics and private beach dinners are also available on request.

For drinks, visit one of the pop-up bars, sample Caribbean rums at the old sugar mill or head to 1830 bar, situated within the elegant plantation house. Make you try a ‘Suzy Special’, the resort’s version of a Bloody Mary with an Antiguan twist.

Additional information

The dress code at Jumby Bay Island is casual. Shorts and bathing suits with cover ups are acceptable during the day in public areas. After sunset, men are requested to wear collared shirts and casual slacks.
