You may have heard the news that the UK Avios Travel Rewards Programme has closed. All Avios Travel Rewards Programme Members who don’t currently belong to another qualifying airline loyalty programme have moved safely into the British Airways Executive Club.
We are absolutely delighted to welcome those joining us from the UK Avios Travel Rewards Programme. Let us assure you that whilst the programme is closed, Avios the currency, remains. You’ll still be able to collect and spend your Avios in many of the same ways you are used to, whilst also accessing exciting new benefits.
Rest assured that even though your Avios Travel Rewards Programme account has closed, your Avios balance is safe and has moved to your new Executive Club account.
You have now had an Executive Club membership supplied to you, with details of how to activate it.
For current Executive Club Members who do not also have an Avios Travel Rewards Programme account, everything will remain the same.
What’s happening to the Avios Travel Rewards Programme?
The Avios Travel Rewards Programme in the UK has closed, but don’t worry your Avios balance is safe. If you’re not already a member of a qualifying airline loyalty programme your membership and Avios balance has been moved to the British Airways Executive Club.
Why is this happening?
This is happening to simplify the programme and improve collection and spending opportunities for everyone.
I am a British Airways Executive Club Member and have heard about the changes. Am I impacted by the announcement?
Please don’t worry, Members who don’t have a UK Avios Travel Rewards Programme membership will not be impacted by this announcement.
How will this affect me as an Avios Travel Rewards Programme member?
Don’t worry, you’ll still be able to collect and spend Avios with many of the partners you do today, you’ll just have a new home to do it all from. By now, Avios Group Ltd should have contacted you by email or by letter to inform you of the changes to your account. If you’re not already a member of another qualifying airline loyalty programme, we've created a British Airways Executive Club account for you.
As an Avios Travel Rewards Programme member, do I need to do anything?
In the majority of cases you won’t need to do anything. We have contacted you by email or letter to inform you firstly of your account details and then separately with your activation pin.
I don’t have a British Airways Executive Club account, should I create one now?
There’s no need to do this. One will be set up on your behalf.
I already have a British Airways Executive Club account and you have created a new one for me. What do I do?
Please contact either the Avios or British Airways Call Centre and they will merge the accounts for you.
Will my Avios login work on the British Airways Executive Club?
No, you’ll need to use your British Airways Executive Club details. We've sent details of how to create a new login once your account is set up.
How will I know once my British Airways Executive Club account has been created?
We've sent an email or letter with your Executive Club number and a separate email or letter with your activation pin. Please note you will need to go to ba.com and activate your account using your Executive Club number and pin.
If I need to access my Avios Travel Rewards Programme account, what do I do?
The programme has now closed. You'll need to activate your Executive Club account.
Will I be able to make changes to an existing booking made through the Avios Travel Rewards Programme during and after the move?
Yes, simply use the contact number on your booking confirmation.
Where can I get details of my Avios Travel Rewards Programme transaction history?
The programme has now closed. You'll need to activate your Executive Club account.
What happens if I have opted out but have now changed my mind?
Please call the Avios Travel Rewards Programme on 0344 49 333 49 as soon as possible.
Should I cancel my Avios Travel Rewards Programme account if I have transferred my Avios to my British Airways Executive Club account?
No, you don’t need to cancel your Avios Travel Rewards Programme account. As the programme has closed, we've closed your account for you.
Why can’t I access my Avios Travel Rewards Programme account?
The programme has closed. Unless you’ve opted out, your Avios will have been transferred to your British Airways Executive Club account where you will be able to see your Avios. The British Airways Executive Club has sent you your new account details and instructions on how to activate it.
I’m unable to log in to my Avios Travel Rewards Programme account on avios.com or via the Avios app
Your account has closed and your Avios have been transferred to your British Airways Executive Club account. Log in to your Executive Club account to view your current statement which will show the Avios migrated from your Avios Travel Reward Programme account.
I am unable to transfer my Avios from my Avios Travel Reward Programme account to my British Airways Executive Club account using the Combine my Avios tool
Your Avios Travel Reward Programme account has now closed, and your balance has been transferred for you to your British Airways Executive Club account.
I want to redeem my Avios from my Avios Travel Rewards Programme account on a booking via ba.com but it won’t let me log in to my Avios account – what do I do?
Your account has closed and your balance has been transferred to your British Airways Executive Club account. You can log in and check your statement on ba.com (or via ‘recent transactions’ on the app).
How will I know if my Avios have been transferred to my British Airways Executive Club account, will it show on my statement?
Yes, when you log into your British Airways Executive Club account on ba.com go to Executive Club/Manage my Account. Click on ‘view my statement’. You should then see the balance transferred from your Avios Travel Rewards Programme account stated as ‘Avios - Migrated balance from Avios Programme’.
I don’t know my British Airways Executive Club details/how to log in, how do I get these?
British Airways has contacted you with your new Executive Club account number and instructions on how to get up and running once your Executive Club account was created. Please note you will need to go to ba.com and activate your account by logging in.
I read that the Avios Travel Rewards Programme is closing, but my Avios are still showing on avios.com and I haven’t got a British Airways Executive Club account.
If you are a member of AerClub, Vueling Club or Flybe you will continue to collect and spend Avios with these airline programmes as you do today via avios.com so your Avios Travel Rewards Programme account will remain open. If you would like to continue to collect through an Avios earning Lloyds credit card you will need to set up an Executive Club account. You can join the Executive Club on ba.com and collect with all the available partners via ba.com. Also, once an Executive Club account has been created you will be able to transfer any Avios from your Avios Travel Rewards Programme account using the ‘Combine my Avios’ tool.
I have been awarded 1 additional Avios on the balance I was expecting to see move to my new Executive Club account.
Yes, this is correct as all customers will be getting a 1 Avios award to make them eligible for Reward Flight Saver and to reset their expiry journey.
I can’t see my balance in my new British Airways Executive Club account
If you have received your notification and your balance is still not in your Executive Club account please contact us.
If I continue to collect Avios in the Avios Travel Rewards Programme, will my pending Avios be transferred to the Executive Club?
Yes, they will, so please feel free to collect as many Avios as you like before, during and after the move.
Will I still be able to collect via the same partners with the British Airways Executive Club?
Yes, you will be able to collect in many of the same ways as you do today, plus there will be some exciting new partners to collect with.
What happens if I auto collect with Tesco to the Avios Travel Rewards Programme?
Your Avios will simply go into your new British Airways Executive Club account.
Does the British Airways Executive Club have an eStore with the same retailers?
Yes, it does. It’s called the British Airways Avios eStore.
Does the British Airways Executive Club have in store collecting opportunities?

Can I still collect Avios through card linking/in store with my new British Airways Executive Club account using the same card?
Yes, so long as you have a valid payment card/cards and haven’t opted out of moving to British Airways Executive Club. Your card details will not be shared but simply your Avios collected will be added into the new account.
Can I still use Avios and money in the British Airways Executive Club?
Yes, you can use Avios & Money for British Airways reward flights. You’ll also have the option to use your Avios to part pay and save money on cash bookings on ba.com.
How do I query missing Avios from my Avios Travel Rewards Programme account?
Please use ba.com to query any missing Avios, even if they were collected before moving.
Does the British Airways Executive Club have Rewards Flight Saver and will my Avios Travel Reward Programme collection make me eligible for it?
Reward Flight Saver is the same with the Executive Club and all customers who have earned 1 Avios in the last 12 months will be eligible.
Can I still buy and gift Avios with the British Airways Executive Club?
Yes, you can.
If I’m a British Airways Executive Club member can I use my Avios to save money on a flight with Aer Lingus, Vueling or Flybe?
Once your Executive Club account is set up, you can move your Avios across to AerClub, Vueling Club, or Flybe programme using the Combine my Avios tool to spend your Avios as you wish.
Will my Avios be worth the same as they are now?
Yes, they will.
Do I need to fly with British Airways to collect Avios?
Flying with British Airways is just one way to collect Avios. There will be lots of other ways that you can build your balance such as through everyday spending on groceries, fuel and travel related products like hotels and car hire. In addition to this you can build your balance through credit cards and with hundreds of popular retailers on the British Airways Avios eStore.
Will I still get information about new partners and special offers?
Yes. You’ll still receive news about the best ways to collect and spend Avios. The only change is that after your account has moved, it will be the British Airways Executive Club that gets in touch. You’ll need to give British Airways permission to send you marketing messages when you register your new account.
Will I lose my Avios collected in the Avios Travel Rewards Programme?
You are only at risk of losing your Avios from your Avios Travel Rewards Programme account if you have opted out of opening a British Airways Executive Club account. Avios Group Limited should have contacted you to tell you how long you have to use your Avios before you lose them if you opted not to join the British Airways Executive Club.
Can I still collect Avios with my Lloyds Avios credit card or TSB Avios credit card?
Yes, you can. We've set up a British Airways Executive Club account for you and your Avios will be awarded into this account.
Will I still be able to use my Lloyds Upgrade voucher/ Lloyds or TSB Worldwide Companion ticket?
Yes, you can you can still book online at avios.com with your voucher until the Avios Travel Rewards Programme closes. After this you’ll need to contact us to book on 0344 49 333 49. Please make sure you use your voucher or companion ticket before the expiry date. In addition to this, you can still earn upgrade vouchers after the move providing you earn enough Avios.
What will happen to my Avios Travel Rewards Programme Household Account?
Your Avios Travel Rewards Programme household account has closed. Following this, individual British Airways Executive Club accounts have been set up. The Avios balance will be shared equally between the accounts that make up your household.
My Avios Travel Rewards Programme household account shows duplicate members, what should I do?
Please call Avios Travel Rewards Programme as soon as possible on 0344 49 333 49.
Can I still have a household account with the British Airways Executive Club?
Yes, you’ll just need to create a new household account with British Airways.
I have a British Airways Executive Club household account and an Avios Travel Rewards Programme household account, will my Avios Travel Rewards Programme household account be split and automatically join my British Airways Executive Club household account?
Now that your Avios Travel Rewards Programme household account has been split and moved across to the British Airways Executive Club accounts you can add your new individual accounts to your existing household account.
