Delhi flight FAQs

How long is a flight to Delhi?

A flight from London to Delhi takes around eight hours and 45 minutes.

What’s the cheapest month to fly to Delhi?

Prices for flights to Delhi peak in December and July, so you may find it’s cheaper to travel in spring or autumn.

Is Delhi cheap to visit?

Delhi is a budget-friendly destination where you can enjoy all the city has to offer for much less than you’d expect. One of the best spots for taking in the sights, sounds and flavours of Delhi is Karol Bagh, a popular shopping area packed with inexpensive restaurants and food stalls.

However, if you're dining out, shopping or staying in New Delhi’s central areas, prices are higher – especially at the international five-star hotels.

Many of the city’s main attractions are free to enter, such as Gandhi Smriti, the former home of Mahatma Gandhi, and the ornate Hindu temple of Swaminarayan Akshardham.

Is it easy to get around Delhi?

Many visitors take a taxi transfer from the airport to the centre of New Delhi, although due to the city’s busy streets the journey time can vary. A speedier alternative is to take the Delhi Airport Express Line on the city’s Metro, which takes just under 20 minutes to reach the centre.

Heading underground to take the Metro is a great way to get around Delhi once you’ve arrived. Just avoid travelling at rush hour if you want to skip the crowds.

Why visit Delhi?

No two visits to Delhi are the same, with much to offer every visitor. Away from New Delhi’s fine dining restaurants and Hauz Khas Village’s fashion boutiques, don’t miss the chance to explore historic Old Delhi. Once the seat of the Mughal Empire, the 17th-century Red Fort is a striking monument influenced by a mix of Muslim, Hindi and Persian architecture. The nearby Chandni Chowk market is almost as famous, where you can shop for an eclectic mix of jewellery, clothes, spices and homeware – and of course, pick up some outstanding street food while you’re there.
