Taxi Aeropuerto are a reliable way into the city centre and can be booked directly outside the terminal. Official airport taxis are orange, while the ones found in the city are red.

Please be aware that there is a standard local departure tax* (or exit tax), payable in US dollars or Costa Rican Colones, upon departure from San José. The charge is $29 per passenger, and must be paid prior to checking in, either at your hotel (check this in advance) or at any of the Bancrédito kiosks to the right as you enter the departures area of the airport.

*All bookings made after 2 January 2017 are not required to pay the local departure tax, as this is now included in the price.
