Viva Las Vegas

Home to the biggest and best entertainment in the world, Las Vegas is full of showstoppers. But it isn’t all entertainment, it also boasts award-winning restaurants, a larger than life atmosphere and an ever-growing cultural scene, bringing a whole new clientele.

Like a beacon in the desert, Las Vegas offers an air conditioned respite from the year-round baking sun of the Mojave Desert. Glitzy themed hotel-casinos delight first-timers and old hands alike, and a trip to Vegas wouldn’t be the same without throwing a few chips down. The sights and sounds of this hub of gaming are mesmerising, but there is much more to the city. Incredible restaurants vie for your attention, galleries show off iconic art and big name stars play to packed out venues every single night. Beyond the city, the desert presents a chance to see nature at its hardiest. Whether you’re planning a city break or a fly-drive, you’ll find a flight to Las Vegas to suit you.

What's on in Las Vegas over the next few months

In February see some exciting old favourites performing on tour, plus fresh new music from Ariana Grande and a musical version of Finding Neverland. Come March, expect to see high-octane thrills, risqué comedians and citywide St Patrick’s Day parties. Then in April, you’d be a fool to miss the Foodie Fest, Bastille or the brand new baseball season.

February

Pop star Ariana Grande performs on 4 February at the MGM Grand Garden Arena or wait for Cher’s world tour, which hits Las Vegas from 8 to 25 February. She’ll take over Park Theater at the Monte Carlo Hotel. The hit Broadway musical Finding Neverland comes to the Smith Center from 14 to 19 February. Based on the 2004 film, it has original music and lyrics co-written by Gary Barlow. 20 February is your last chance to see Town and Country, a special exhibition of Impressionist art at the Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art. Rock stalwarts Bon Jovi keep living while they’re alive – touring after the release of their latest album. See them on 25 February at the T-Mobile Arena.

March
The-Mint

March

Starting the month with a chorus of revving engines, The Mint 400 is one of the most notorious off-road races in the world, made famous by Hunter S. Thompson. Taking place 1 to 5 March, see these huge trucks parade along the Strip – before they head off into the desert. Celebrate Ireland’s patron saint Vegas-style from 10 to 12 March at St Patrick’s Day parties across Las Vegas, particularly check out the Fremont Street Experience for a notoriously fun night out. Also on 10 and 11 March, Bill Mayer brings his caustic wit to The Mirage for two nights of satire and comedy.

Baseball season starts this month. Book to see the Las Vegas 51s play at their home stadium, Cashman Field from 11 April, against the Fresno Grizzlies. See alternative rock band Bastille with amazing vocalist Rob Smith leading the four piece. For one date only at The Chelsea at The Cosmopolitan on 14 April. At the end of the month fill up at the Great American Foodie Fest at Sunset Station – a great gathering of food trucks, plus carnival rides and the fine US tradition of an eating contest. From epic tacos to Hawaiian poke bowls, it’s the food that will take centre stage.
