British Airways Barclaycard Companion Voucher

Terms and Conditions: Effective 1st September 2008 (Revised 16th November 2012)

  1. This promotion is only available to members of the British Airways (‘BA’) Executive Club who are 18 years or over, resident in Germany and who hold a Premium BA Barclaycard Card (a ‘Member’). The promoters reserve the right to verify the eligibility of Members. If you are not currently a member of the Executive Club, you can enrol online at ba.com.
  2. Members must have accrued the required billed expenditure on their Premium BA Barclaycard (the ‘Target’) within a 12 month period ending each year on the anniversary of their Promotion Commencement Date (defined in section 10). Please note, qualifying spend excludes Cash Withdrawals, interest, Balance Transfers, Charge Backs and fees. The Target for Premium BA Barclaycard cardholders is €20,000.
  3. Once Members have reached the Target applicable to their Premium BA Barclaycard , they will receive a voucher (the ‘Voucher’) to their Executive Club Account.
  4. The Voucher entitles the Member, when making a booking using his/her accumulated Avios (a ‘Redemption Booking’), to book a return ticket (a ‘Reward Ticket’ – also known as a Companion Ticket) without incurring the flight price (for applicable charges see Section 5) for a companion on that same flight (the ‘Redemption Flight’). Reservations and bookings for both the Member and the companion must be made at the same time. The Reward Ticket must be used for the same destination and must be booked in the same class as the Redemption Flight. Companion must travel with the Member on both the outbound and inbound journeys.
  5. Members and/or their Companion will be responsible for paying the taxes, fees, charges and surcharges relating to the Redemption Flight and the Reward Ticket, including but not limited to departure taxes, fuel surcharges and federal inspection fees. Members must pay for these charges using their Premium BA Barclaycard. For bookings visit ba.com and log in using your membership details or call your dedicated Executive Club number. A fee may be charged for bookings, changes and cancellations to Reward Ticket bookings full details of which can be found on ba.com. It is not possible to redeem any Voucher by contacting any travel agent, or at the airport.
  6. Redemption Flights and Reward Tickets may only be used for flights on BA mainline services, which have a BA prefixed flight number. Travel on franchisee, codeshare or alliance airlines is not permitted. Return flights must be booked at the same time as the outward journey is booked. All travel must originate in and return to Germany.
  7. This promotion is only available for Redemption Bookings made using Avios and cannot be combined with any other mileage or frequent flyer programme, or with partial cash payments.
  8. Reward Tickets are subject to availability and there is no guarantee of receiving a Reward Ticket to the Member’s choice of destination under this promotion.
  9. The Voucher is only valid if it has been acquired in accordance with the rules of this promotion. Vouchers must be exchanged for a ticket and all outbound travel from Germany must be taken before the expiry date on the Voucher, which is 12 months from the date of its issue. For example, a ticket routing Germany to London Heathrow (return), the Germany to London Heathrow sector must be taken before the expiry date on the Voucher. Vouchers are non-extendable.
  10. This promotion commences on the date of issue of the Member’s first Premium BA Barclaycard (‘Promotion Commencement Date’) Members have a 12-month period ending each year on the anniversary of their Promotion Commencement Date in order to reach the Target applicable to their Premium BA Barclaycard unless the Premium BA Barclaycard agreement expires before that time, or if the promoters decide to end the promotion (in which case Members will be given one month’s notice). Members will not, in any circumstances, be able to carry over any expenditure in respect of the Target into any subsequent 12-month period ending on the anniversary of their Promotion Commencement Date. Only one Reward Ticket will be allowed in any Card Year. A ‘Card Year’ is a period of 12 consecutive months commencing on the Promotion Commencement Date or any anniversary of the Promotion Commencement Date. If Members reach the Target during a Card Year, no further expenditure during that Card Year will count towards the next Target so Members can only start collecting toward the next Target on the first day of the next Card Year. For example, if Members receive their Premium BA Barclaycard on 1 February 2009 and they reach the applicable Target on 1 July 2009, they will not be able to start collecting for a further Reward Ticket until 1 February 2010. Alternatively if they reach the applicable Target on 1 March 2009, they will not be able to start collecting for a further Reward Ticket until the beginning of the next Card Year, which is in the example given 1 February 2010. Any expenditure that they accumulate on their Premium BA Barclaycard between the date on which they reach the Target and the start of the next Card Year will not count towards reaching the next Target but will still earn Avios, which can be redeemed in the usual way.
  11. Members must be Premium BA Barclaycard Cardholders at the time of travel. Premium BA Barclaycard reserve the right to refuse to issue or to honour any Voucher/Reward Tickets in the event that the Member is in breach of either the terms of their Premium BA Barclaycard or BA Executive Club membership.
  12. The Voucher may only be used by the Member who must select/advise at the time of booking the Redemption Ticket and the Reward Ticket that he/she wishes to use the Voucher.
  13. Vouchers have a statutory cash redemption value of 0.001p and are non-transferable. Cash or credit alternatives will not be offered.
  14. At no time may the Voucher be purchased, sold, transferred to anyone else or bartered. Any such Voucher will become void.
  15. The Voucher may not be used in conjunction with any other offer.
  16. Any flight tickets obtained in exchange for an invalid Voucher will also be invalid and liable to removal by British Airways. Alternatively British Airways reserves the right to recover the full applicable fare for the Reward Ticket from the Member or his/her companion.
  17. Vouchers cannot be used to amend existing bookings.
  18. Only one Voucher may be used at any one time for any one booking.
  19. If booking by telephone, Reward tickets must be booked at least 48 hours before the date of travel.
  20. Subject to the Executive Club terms and conditions relating to Redemption Bookings, if the Member cancels the Redemption Booking or if the companion can no longer fly on the Reward Ticket more than 24 hours prior to the scheduled departure of the first flight, British Airways may reissue the Voucher which will only be valid for the remainder of its 12 month expiry period. Effective 1 November 2007, Redemption bookings cancelled within 24 hours of departure, will result in the Voucher and mileage, in respect of the redemption not being re-credited to the member.

  22. Schedules and destinations are subject to change without notice and listings are not conclusive or binding.
