At British Airways Holidays we always set high standards for safety, flexibility and the service we provide our customers. Our Customer Promise commitment means that you can change your dates or cancel for a refund should your holiday be impacted by major travel restrictions.

Holiday or flight cancellations

If your flight (as part of a British Airways Holidays booking) or accommodation is cancelled there are several options for you.

 

Want to change or cancel your British Airways Holidays booking?

If your travel is due to be completed by 30 September 2022 (regardless of when it was booked) and you would like to change your holiday (flight + hotel and/or car hire) booking you can choose from one of the following options:

  1. To cancel your booking and exchange for a voucher, which enables the flexibility to change your whole booking (destination, dates etc), please complete the form here: Cancel your holiday and claim a voucher
  2. You can also call our contact centre but please be aware we are currently receiving high call volumes.

Date changes must be made, or cancellation (in exchange for a voucher) must be requested at least 7 days in advance, for travel starting during July, August or September 2022.

If you cannot meet the eligibility requirements required to change/cancel or are travelling from 1 October 2022 onwards, standard amendment and cancellation conditions apply find out more.

If your request meets the eligibility criteria, you will receive your voucher (in the form of voucher credit) by email within 14 days of your application.

What if my holiday is impacted by major travel restrictions?

If new major travel restrictions are introduced after placing your booking and prior to your outbound flight, you will be able to;

  1. Change your destination and dates of booking or cancel your booking, by requesting a voucher or refund via the form here.
  2. You can also call our contact centre, but please be aware we are currently receiving high call volumes.

What is a major travel restriction?

A major travel restriction is the occurrence of one or more of the following after placing your booking:

  • New COVID-19 entry restrictions are introduced at your travel destination that prevent your trip or require you to complete a period of mandatory quarantine of 12 hours or more upon arrival at your destination that cannot be avoided with a negative COVID-19 test or vaccination;
  • Significant restrictions to leisure options at your destination. Examples include, but are not limited to, curfews, beach closures, the closure of your booked hotel or loss of major advertised facilities;
  • Compulsory lockdown restrictions are introduced at your place of origin that prevent you from being able to commence your trip;
  • A requirement is introduced to complete a period of mandatory quarantine of 12 hours or more in a designated hotel upon return to your country of origin as a result of your trip that cannot be avoided with a negative COVID-19 test, vaccination or self-isolation at home;
  • The UK Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) or your government at your country of outbound departure advise against non-essential travel;

Request a voucher or refund

What if I or someone in my booking tests positive for COVID-19 within 14 days of departure?

If you booked for travel to be completed by 30 September 2022 and you test positive for COVID-19 or another individual on your booking tests positive for COVID-19 within 2 weeks before your outbound flight, you can submit a request to cancel your original booking and request a voucher. Supporting evidence of a positive COVID-19 test is required.

Please ensure you submit your request within 48 hours of receiving a positive result. Eligibility criteria applies, please see Terms and Conditions.

How to use your British Airways Holidays voucher

Vouchers can be used as payment, or part payment, for a future British Airways Holidays booking. Your new trip booked with your voucher must be fully completed by 30 September 2023 (departure and return). To use your British Airways Holidays voucher, please see instructions on your voucher confirmation email.

What if your flight (as part of a British Airways Holidays booking) has been cancelled?

If you flight has been cancelled as part of your British Airways Holidays booking you have several options;

  1. Cancel your booking and claim a refund (incl. taxes) to the original form of payment.
  2. Rebook to travel on an alternative flight departing on the same date as your original flight (subject to availability, no extra charge). Please call our contact centre.
  3. Rebook to travel on different dates (subject to availability). There's no charge for changing your flight element. If the price of your hotel, car hire, transfer or experience is higher you will need to pay the difference. If the price is lower, we will refund it. Please call our contact centre.

Can I get a refund for my British Airways Holidays voucher?

We are currently refunding British Airways Holidays vouchers that are two or more years old. If you have unspent British Airways Holidays or flight vouchers, the original terms and conditions still apply and we are unable to accept refund requests.
