Blue benefits
As soon as you join The British Airways Club, you’ll become a Blue member, which means you’ll get all these benefits.
Avios - the reward currency of the Club
As a Blue member, you'll collect Avios when you fly and can keep topping up that balance by collecting on your everyday spend, hotel stays, car hire and much more.
When you’ve collected enough you can spend your Avios on flights and upgrades, or choose from a range of other rewards.
Collecting Avios
Collect Avios on flights
As a Blue member you’ll collect six Avios per qualifying pound (GBP) spent whenever you fly with British Airways or American Airlines, and five Avios per qualifying euro (EUR) with Iberia.
On other oneworld® airlines, it depends on how far you fly, your choice of cabin, and which airline you fly with.
Collect Avios on hotels
Collect Avios when you stay with our accommodation partners, including Marriott Bonvoy® and Airbnb.
Collect Avios on car hire
You can also collect Avios when you hire a car with Avis.
Claim Avios from previous flights
Have you flown with us in the three months before you joined The British Airways Club? No problem. You can still claim Avios for those flights.
Spending Avios
Fly for less using your Avios
You can choose to spend your Avios on a Reward Flight, an upgrade to the next cabin on a cash booking, or as part payment on flights or holidays. You can also use them for seat selection and baggage.
Hotels, car hire and experiences
You can use your Avios on hotel bookings, car rental and experiences worldwide, such as holiday excursions.
Earning tier points
Tier points move you through the tiers of the Club, unlocking more exclusive benefits with each new membership level – from extra baggage to lounge access.
You'll earn 1 tier point per pound (GBP) when you fly with us, book a British Airways Holidays package (where available), or for extras such as paying to choose your seat. Plus you get up to 550 extra tier points on every flight depending on your cabin.
You can also earn tier points when you travel with our oneworld® airline partners. Find out how much you can earn with partners.
Other benefits of Blue membership
Free Wi-Fi Messaging on-board
Stay connected with friends, family and colleagues using instant messaging applications and with text-based emails that don’t include attachments.
Onboard Wi-Fi Messaging is free for Blue members. If you’re not already a member it’s free to sign up.
Bring rewards closer with a household account
You and up to six other members of your household, including children, can pool your Avios into a household account. So you can bring the rewards even closer.
You can also spend your Avios with people outside of your household, by adding them to your family and friends list.
Added reassurance when you fly
We always try to get you to your destination with minimum fuss. But if your flight is busy, your Blue membership gives you priority over non-members on standby and reservation waiting lists.
Save your travel information
You can save your seating preferences and meal choices in your account, so you won't have to provide them every time you travel.

To reach the next level of the Club, the Bronze tier, you need to earn 3,500 tier points or take 25 eligible flights.
Whichever you do first will get you there, unlocking a range of benefits that make travelling with us even more enjoyable.
How you could get to Bronze
- 1 x Club World return flight to New York plus a contribution to Sustainable Aviation Fuels (‘SAF’)* – extra tier points will contribute a total of 800 tier points.
Or - 4 x Club Europe return flights to Nice – extra tier points will contribute a total of 1,400 tier points.
Examples are based on published and historical prices available on ba.com. All fares exclude any corporate or specialist fares. Extra tier points are awarded based on the cabin flown across all return trips.
*‘Sustainable Aviation Fuels’ (‘SAF’) are defined in the Refuel EU Aviation Regulation as aviation fuels that are either synthetic aviation fuels, aviation biofuels or recycled carbon aviation fuels. For further information, please visit BA Better World.
