It’s a city for those who want to be outdoors, whether skiing, hiking or exploring the wilds. But you need a roof over your head at the end of the day, so make it a nice one. Whether you’re looking for a short stay, or to make the city your home for a while, pick a hotel in Vancouver that’s perfect for you.

The Westin Bayshore, Vancouver

Best for: Sensational skyline views.

The lowdown: Soak up the sights of the city from the four-star Westin – gaze out to Stanley Park, the Yacht Club, Coral Harbour and beyond. Savour modern luxury on the waterfront, combined with a brilliant location to see Vancouver with ease.

Stay for: The oasis of Stanley Park, right on your doorstep. Wander through the forest trails, keep your eyes peeled for racoons and ride the railway through this urban park.

Know this… If you’re into outdoor activities, the hotel offers a ‘running concierge’ service. Ask at reception and join a group with a guide, to see the best of Stanley Park.

Stay for: Shoppers will love browsing along the buzzing sidewalks of Robson Street.

Know this… If you want to whip up your own breakfast, buy supplies from Granville Market the day before... or the little store up the street.
