Prolific Instagram food blogger Clerkenwell Boy is the capital’s authority on dishes that are dressed to impress. Here he gives us a rundown of the eight most photogenic (not to mention delicious) plates around.

Shackfuyu, Soho

The dish to order: That kinako French toast with matcha soft serve – one of my favourites and probably the most Instagrammed dessert in London.

Atmosphere: Japanese fusion tapas and cocktails, with a rock ’n’ roll vibe.

Great for: Going out with friends or date night.

Paradise Garage, Bethnal Green

The dish to order: The rabbit for four to share. Cooked several ways, you'll soon be fighting over the “pie”!

Atmosphere: A cool and hip restaurant in East London located under a railway arch with a beautiful bar and delicious seasonal dishes from the guys behind The Dairy.

Great for: An adventure in trendy East London.

The dish to order: The crispy prawn cheung fun (rice noodle roll) is the signature dish here. Other favourites include the famous venison puffs and sesame prawn toast.

Great for: A business lunch, birthday dinner or fantastic long Saturday brunch.

Taberna do Mercado, Spitalfields Market

The dish to order: Cuttlefish and trotters, plus the rice of the day. Daily specials include cuttlefish rice, oyster and coriander, and duck and mushrooms. Save room for an oozy custard tart!

Atmosphere: Fantastic flavours that transport you to Portugal. From the team behind Chiltern Firehouse, the focus here is on honest and robust flavours, with a modern twist.

Great for: A date or quiet catch-up with friends

Bao London, Soho

The dish to order: Pork belly bao and aged beef in white soy.

Atmosphere: Originally a street food stall, Bao now serves its fluffy Taiwanese buns and other tasty treats in a permanent spot in Soho. Go early – or be prepared to brave the queue (there are no reservations).

Great for: Popping in for a quick lunch or pre-theatre dinner

The Quality Chop House, Farringdon

The dish to order: The special of the day – check the blackboard for the best cuts of pork, beef, lamb or seasonal game. Don’t miss the confit potatoes: slow cooked, thinly sliced, compressed and pan fried = potato goodness.

Atmosphere: A traditional British chop house with an adjoining butcher and grocery store that serves hearty seasonal dishes and brilliant rare wines.

Great for: Lovers of meat and wine. Perfect for business lunches, birthdays, date night and anniversaries.
