Overview

Domes Lake Algarve is the luxury brand’s first venture outside of Greece, and it doesn’t disappoint. Along with the Domes’ signature focus on style and lifestyle, this resort offers a private saltwater lake – with a range of water sports to boot – and direct access to Falesia Beach. The Domes Lake Residences provide spacious accommodation and self-catering facilities ideal for families.

The resort is sat on the southernmost tip of Portugal, in the Algarve’s trendy town of Vilamoura – home to plenty of fine dining restaurants, chic bars and a marina dotted with superyachts. From the resort, the ruggedly beautiful Falesia Beach is just 400 metres away and Vilamoura’s town centre is under a mile away. The protected wetlands of Ria Formosa Natural Park, home to a collection of rare birds, is 20 miles away; join the resort’s guided tour to make the most of your experience. Faro Airport is just 15 miles away.

Inspired by the island’s traditional architecture, whitewashed and cream buildings (some with terracotta roofs) comprise the resort. Wooden walkways wind through the gardens, connecting its different areas. Tropical One Bedroom Residence, Sapphire One- and Two-bedroom Residences, and the Two Bedroom Residence Inland View accommodation are come furnished in a soothing palette of beige and soft light blue, complete with a fully equipped kitchen, an inviting dining area and living room.

Other facilities

Set just in front of the lake, bordered by white sun loungers and umbrellas, the semi-circle sand-bottom pool provides a unique spot for relaxation. Towering palms surround the two other pools, which are linked by a sunbathing bridge. The award-winning adult-only Soma Spa offers invigorating Turkish and Roman baths as well as Greek-inspired therapies combined with products by renowned brand Elemis. Here you’ll also find an indoor pool, relaxation garden and gym. Fitness classes take place on the lake pergola, as do sunrise yoga sessions. There's also a dedicated beauty salon offering a menu of treatments including manicures and pedicures.

Walk or cycle alongside olive, almond and fig trees on the resort’s nature trails, which span five kilometres. Otherwise, cruise around the resort lake in a pedalo or canoe, and continue your exploration of the Algarve with olive oil and wine tasting experiences. Six stunning golf courses, including the Dom Pedro Old Course, Dom Pedro Millennium, Victoria, Pinhal and Laguna golf courses, are all within 12 miles of the resort and accessible via the resort's complimentary shuttle. The concierge team are also on hand to assist with booking tee times, local restaurant reservations and nearby island excursions. You'll also find a mini multi-sports court at the resort.

Younger guests can retreat to the free kids’ club, which provides Ofsted-standard supervision. They can also plant their own flowers and herbs, while learning about healthy eating and sustainability at the KiEPOS learning garden. There’s also a creche available (at an extra charge) for little ones aged 4 months to 4 years old.

Dining information

This hotel brings a Portuguese flavour to its celebrated Mediterranean menus at all three of its restaurants. Start your day with a tempting buffet breakfast at Gustatio Restaurant, which also serves Portuguese comfort food and showstopping desserts. Tuck into Greek seafood paired with a carefully selected list of Greek wines at the Topos restaurant, led by Executive Chef Dionysios Pliatsikas. Sat atop the water, Makris on the Lake offers a tempting tasting menu of fresh, local and organic dishes, and situated by the beach, Sora Beach serves up fresh Algarvian seafood with sunset views.

The boho-chic Apricus Bar is located poolside and offers cold drinks and tasty snacks with DJ tunes. Raw Gastro Bar offers sushi and finger foods alongside cocktails developed by award-winning mixologists.

The standard half board package includes daily American buffet breakfast and a daily International buffet dinner, both served in Gustatio Restaurant (main restaurant). Drinks not included.

If you’re staying in Haute Living Selection accommodation for a minimum five nights, you’ll have access to one three-course a la carte dinner and for a minimum 10 nights’ stay, you can enjoy two, three-course dinners. These are on an la carte Dine Around basis (some items excluded) of your choice (pre booking required). Drinks not included.

Upgrade to the Half Board supplement to enjoy a daily American buffet breakfast and a daily international buffet dinner, both served in Gustatio Restaurant (main restaurant). Please note that drinks are not included. If you have upgraded to Half Board and wish to dine around, you may do so by receiving a 40€ credit per adult and a 20€ credit per child against your meal supplement, to be deducted from your a la carte bill. If you upgrade to the Haute Living Half Board supplement you will have access to the Haute Living areas, including the exclusive Haute Living lounge. Enjoy a variety of upgraded services here including daily access to the lounge from 10:00 until 23:00, dedicated concierge staff and full use of tablets, magazines, coffee table books, computer workstations (upon request) and complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi. The Haute Living Half Board supplement additionally includes all-day hot and cold snacks, fruits, salads, traditional delicacies, teas, coffees, a branded selection of wines, beers, spirits and cocktails alongside soft drinks and juices. Additional information

Please note that during winter/low season, subject to varying factors such as occupancy levels, weather conditions or other variables, the resort may substitute Gustatio Restaurant with another alternative and Half Board buffet dinner, with a three-course set menu instead (two options per dish, non-allergenic/food intolerance options available on request). In addition, open air venues (Apricus Pool Bar/Makris On The Lake restaurant/Sora Beach) will not operate for winter/low season due to weather conditions.

A rebrand planned for 2024 will see 'Makris on the Lake' will be rebranded as 'Yaosai' (offering Asian-style cuisine), the 'Sora Beach Bar Restaurant' rebranded as 'Olivier do Mar', and the food Truck (located by the adult-only pool) rebranded as 'Well Sushi'.
