The Championship Rees Jones-designed course includes some of the best elements of every championship course from the past 100 years with carefully design touches, like cypress trees lining its fairways and a five-tee system to accommodate golfers of every calibre.
The revamped full-service European Spa features Guerlain products and is one of a handful of luxury US resorts housing a Himalayan salt cave. The hotel’s signature cabana pool offer pre-bookable cabanas may need to be pre-booked (depending on room type) that and includes a flat-screen TV, fans, snacks, and drinks.
Keep trim at its 372m2 fitness centre and use some of the latest equipment including Peloton bikes. There are also plenty of jogging and biking trails on site – bikes can be hired for a local charge.
The kids’ clubs (from age 2 to 12 years old) run morning, afternoon and evening sessions and offer anything from crafts to beginners’ scuba for a fee. There’s even an after dark club (until 21:00) meaning parents can try the legendary Bull and Bear, while kids toast marshmallows under the stars. Food here really is important with the Waldorf Astoria Orlando building on the stellar reputation founded by its New York sister site. For a breakfast try Oscar’s Brasserie where the gourmet Eggs Benedict and cold-pressed juices are popular. Peacock Alley is a real indulgence of Art Deco and is great for cocktails and small plates.
Dinner is done with panache here. Head to La Luce for contemporary Italian fare that will be loved by the whole family, or try pan Asian food at the swanky Zeta Asian. There’s also the attention-grabbing Bull and Bear Steakhouse, with its handsome wood panelling and views of the pool and golf course. It offers twists on steaks and seafood. Open all day is the refined yet chilled vibes of Sir Harry’s – whether that’s for breakfast or cocktails. Meanwhile, for those out on the green food and drinks are available (alongside outside patio) at the 19th hole at Clubhouse Grille.
