This relaxed, all-inclusive resort has been designed with families in mind. Offering a variety of pools to suit both tots and teens, a lively entertainment programme, its own aqua park and a generous supply of self-service drinks and snacks throughout the day.
Located on Crete’s north coast, with easy access from both Heraklion airport (36 miles) and Chania airport (53 miles). It’s a short walk from the pretty fishing village of Panormo, where you’ll find traditional Greek tavernas and a nice selection of shops for both convenience and souvenirs. Or hire a car and drive to Rethymnon to explore its charming old-town cafes 14 miles away.
The Grecotel Marine Palace & Aqua Park reflects a Cretan village cascading down the hillside to its blue flag beach. This explains why there are so many differing room types – divided into four categories, varying by location and size. Double, Bungalow, Family and Suites are further categorised by view with garden, side sea or sea views to choose from. Winding paths, flourishing with botanical plants, connect the main building with a cluster of bungalows on the upper level and those closer to the seafront. Casa Marina is located across a quiet road from the main resort with access to a large freshwater garden pool and restaurant for breakfast – offering a more exclusive feel. The Casa Marina Suite & Studio categories feature a kitchennette including a fridge and microwave, while the newer additions – the Casa Marina Family Maisonettes, are ideal for parents craving some privacy and for kids wanting some independence, as they feature split level accommodation.

The quantity and variety of pools scattered across the resort is one of its best features, particularly in high season as you can always find a sun lounger. The large freshwater pool by the main building is ideal for young families, with clearly defined areas for toddlers and its close proximity to the main restaurant and bar. The Tropical seawater pool, on the beachfront, appeals to older families, while the Sea Front Marin Bay Pool is popular with those staying in the adjacent Marin Bay First Row Bungalow Suites. The Grecoland Kids Club also features an impressive, swimming pool-sized, paddling pool. Kingdom of Poseidon, the mega aqua park of 6,000 m2, has several pools with chutes, slides and splash zones to entertain and cool down. This is located at the very top of the resort, beyond the Casa Marina suites' category, so it’s out of sight and mind unless you go looking for it. You can also use the indoor Elixir Spa pool, with a full circuit of hydro massage jets, sauna and hammam (charges apply).
If you are feeling restless there are plenty of activities planned throughout the day, and often vary throughout the week. The entertainment team rally up poolside enthusiasm to participate in everything from aqua aerobics to dart competitions, some lured by prizes. There's also a morning yoga stretching class and a leisurely game of boccia to join. The nightly programme is just as varied, with its own amphitheatre hosting a children’s discos and themed shows. You can log on to the guest portal to see what's planned for the coming days ahead.
You will also notice that this resort is making steps to improve their ecological footprint. You are encouraged to reuse paper cups and there are recycling stations scattered throughout the resort. Pool towels are now replaced every other day too, which is perfectly adequate if you let them dry out in the sun or use the air dryer in your room.
Dining information
There are five restaurants throughout the resort to satisfy all tastes and six bars, a trio of those by the pool so you won't need to go far for refreshments. Or tubs of ice cream, if you haven't already filled yourself up with crepes after lunch (freshly made while you wait). The main all-day buffet restaurant serves a wide selection of Greek and International dishes, as well as a kids and baby corner offering firm favourites like plain pasta. During high season the self-service lunch buffets at the a la carte restaurants provide additional variety. Trattoria Di Casa Marina features a popular pizza oven and Big Blue is a Greek Taverna, offering stunning sea views. You’ll need to pre-book if you plan on dining at any of the a la carte restaurants for dinner, but this can be easily arranged using the guest portal app – you just need to plan ahead to get the best time slots. Marin Bay Club offers an Asian tasting menu to share as well as street food, salads and snacks during the day. You can also enjoy Antikrististo Traditional, a Cretan self-service barbeque by the beach (weather permitting).

Dress code: cover‐ups are required for breakfast and lunch. Gentlemen are required to wear long trousers during dinner service in all restaurants.
