The show-stopping infinity pool leaves a lasting impression – unique floating starfish, shady cabanas and a trendy bar add to the allure. What’s more, it’s perfectly acclimatised with solar panels (seasonally). When the seasonal family pool is open, the infinity pool becomes an adult-only oasis. Amid Mediterranean gardens, the family pool is a haven of fun. Young ones can splash about in the kids’ zone and partake in poolside activities. For tranquillity, Deck is the resort's quiet pool – a great spot to repose with a book.

Art Deco So/Spa is nestled within lush gardens with striking sea views. Here you’ll find a 20-metre indoor pool, a relaxation area, a sauna and a hammam. Spa treatments range from floatation chamber sessions to cryotherapy, as well as body rituals by ESPA and facials by QMS. SO/Fit is the resort’s fitness centre, open 24/7/365, home to outdoor and indoor areas with cardio machines, free weights and a cycling studio. Should you overdo the workout, there’s even a physiotherapist on hand.

Rent an e-bike and explore the stunning surroundings at your own pace, or join a mountain biking tour for a more vigorous jaunt. The Alto Club Golf Course with its vivid green grounds, views of the Mediterranean Sea and 18-hole course is located within the resort, while La Reserva Club, Real Club de Golf Sotogrande and Real Club Valderrama, which was home to the Ryder Cup in 1997, are all within a seven mile radius. You can also practise your swing at La Hacienda Alcaidesa Links' two 18-hole courses, and relax in the clubhouse, where sea views await. If you wish to perfect your skills further, join the Golf Academy led by the former Solheim Cup Captain Suzann Pettersen.

Young guests are no afterthought here, with the colourful SO/Kids’ Club set in the gardens. The supervised indoor and outdoor activities for ages 4 to 13 include sports, treasure hunts, origami, pottery and gardening workshops. Society Clubhouse offers all-day dining with suitably chic indoor-outdoor seating. It’s the perfect spot to sip your morning coffee while taking in the views, tuck into a pasta dish after a round of golf, or even enjoy a Sunday roast (open for breakfast and lunch year-round and open for dinner from June to September). Open seasonally, Marxa Chiringuito is more than just a poolside eatery. Its menu features fresh fish and premium cuts of meat, cooked on a charcoal grill with Mediterranean flair. After dark, you’ll find a regular schedule of events and live music.

For a true taste of Andalusia, Cortijo Santa Maria 1962 proffers Iberian ham, fresh tuna from Cadiz and Oloroso wines. Follow with a trio of Andalusian D.O. cheeses and local sherry. From the evening until the small hours, cocktails and tapas go hand in hand at Ixo Tapas & Bar.
