St. Moritz is the most famous ski destination in Switzerland. This exclusive, world-renowned resort has a unique and distinct character. As well as great skiing and snowboarding for the intermediate and advanced, St. Moritz offers eccentric quirks like polo, golf and cricket on the frozen lake at the bottom of the valley.
Cross-country skiers are accompanied by beautiful views of the lake. The main slopes are nearby Corviglia and Corvatsch, a short bus-ride or drive away. Several other skiing areas are accessible by car, and renting one is recommended in St. Moritz. The famous Cresta Run, a head-first toboggan run from St. Moritz to Celerina, is a must-do for the brave and a must-see for everyone else. Local après ski makes St. Moritz a stylish resort popular with the chic and the fashionable - a great place to visit, and a great place to be seen.
Skiing and snowboarding in St. Moritz starts at Salastrains or Corviglia. Celerina also has nice, broad nursery slopes at village level. There are ski schools in St. Moritz and Suvretta, whilst snowboarders can take lessons at The Wave - a dedicated snowboarding school.
Intermediates will thoroughly enjoy St. Moritz. Corviglia and Cervatsch offer miles of fast cruising. The Hahnensee run is worth particular attention for its six kilometre length and 900 metre vertical. St. Moritz's slopes here are perfect for fast and fun freeriding.
St. Moritz has a handful of black pistes scattered across the slopes. Most advanced skiers and snowboarders will want to head off-piste to stretch themselves, though. Tough terrain can be found atop Piz Nair and Corvatsch, though the best way to find great off-piste here is to hire a guide.
St. Moritz Ski School has a childcare programme for those aged 4 to 12 years. In addition, the Schweizerhof and Badrutt Palace hotels both offer non-skiing nurseries for children. St. Moritz is best suited to families with non-skiing children in their party.
St. Moritz is a glamorous ski resort. People come here to be seen, and the apres ski atmosphere is always a combination of glitzy, chic and vibrant. For a special evening, top restaurants such as Jöhri's Talvo at Champfèr and Bumanns Chesa Pirani in La Punt offer sumptuous food in stylish surroundings. There are also plenty of low-key restaurants in St. Moritz, including the beautiful views and unpretentious food at Muottas Muragl. Bars and nightclubs play host to a variety of different age groups in St. Moritz. Bobby's Pub and Stübli attract a young crowd. Nearby, Western-themed, Muli offers live music, as does the Piano bar - albeit in more chic surroundings. Several nightclubs are open into the small hours. Two of the most popular are Vivai and King's, the latter requires you to wear a jacket and tie.
