San Jose is increasingly popular with tourists. Unsurprisingly, summer is the most popular time, when the average temperatures can reach up to 24°C (75°F) but this is a popular spot all year round, especially with the creative and business crowds. The months of June, July and August are particularly busy times for visitors to San Jose, so fares can be higher during that period. From London Heathrow (LHR) to San Jose (SJC) you can expect a flight time of around ten and a half hours.
San Jose International Airport is situated less than five kilometres north of downtown San Jose and has access to the highway and Freeways 101 and 880. Car hire is a great idea if you’re planning to explore outside the city, as well as for trips in town.
Taxis are easily available outside the terminal building and cost a minimum of $15 for the trip to downtown San Jose, and $3 per mile after that. Don’t forget there’s a $1.50 airport tax on cab fares.
Many hotels offer courtesy shuttle buses to and from the airport too, so check with your hotel. Or take the Airbus if you are transferring to San Francisco Airport. Alternatively there are plenty of shuttle buses that you can pre-book to take you to your location of choice.
