The ultimate city break

For a getaway where the city meets the beach, look no further. Our regular flights to Nice will transport you to the sparkling French Riviera – where Nice is neighboured by the iconic resorts of Cannes, Monaco and St Tropez.

A destination with a timeless appeal and an abundance of things to do, holidays in Nice effortlessly blend captivating culture and glorious Mediterranean sunshine. Enjoy fantastic shopping along Rue de France or get lost in the lanes of the Old Town - you’ll love charming Cours Saleya, with its colourful flower markets. Walk up Castle Hill for spectacular views over the city and Bay of Angels. Or simply stop and take it all in from the flawless Promenade des Anglais. Within easy reach of London, city breaks in Nice provide the perfect weekend getaway. If you’re planning a longer trip, make sure you hire a car and take a scenic drive along the stunning Cote d’Azure to Monaco or Cannes.

My perfect day in Nice

Promenade des Anglais

After breakfast take a morning stroll along the famous Promenade des Anglais – spanning the whole length of the city. Great for people watching and taking in the atmosphere of the Cote d'Azur! If you want to treat yourself, visit the private beach areas which have parasols and sunloungers, so you can sunbathe in a bit of comfort & luxury!

Cours Saleya

Experience the traditional and local charm of the Old Town. Here you can find Cours Saleya – where the morning market takes place before turning into a great area for dining later in the day. This is also a great area for shopping, particularly if you're looking for a keepsake of Nice.

Musee Massena and Musee Matisse

Musee Massena and Musee Matisse

Two of my favourite museums are Musee Massena – one of the main sights along the Promenade des Anglais, and Musee Matisse – located in a renovated Geonese villa set in the Cimiez Gardens.

The exhibition at Musee Massena gives you a fanstastic insight into the history of Nice through its collections of furniture, decorations and artworks. And a visit to Musee Matisse feels like you’ve been let into a family secret. The collection of works were left by the artist (and his heirs) to the city of Nice, where he lived from 1918 until 1954.

Castle Hill

Castle Hill

The Parc du Chateau sits over Vieux Nice at a height of 92m. If you’re feeling energetic walk up to Castle Hill, otherwise I recommend riding the elevator or taking the tourist train up there to save some energy. As soon as you get to the top get your camera out and start taking panoramic pictures to remember your trip by. Reward yourself with an ice-cream while taking in the views. There is a little park great for children up there as well.

Place Massena

Nice is awash with plenty of restaurants and bars. Old Nice is a great spot for dinner, or you can find lots of places to eat in and around Place Massena. The beachfront restaurants are lovely to relax in and watch the sunset over the Bay of Angels!

Nizza

As the gateway to the French Riviera, Nice is the perfect city meets beach destination – with plenty to explore on its doorstep. Boasting a Mediterranean feel, with its piercing turquoise waters and palm-lined promenades – you won’t believe that you’re just a short flight from the UK. It’s bursting with character and culture - from the sweeping Promenade des Anglais to the quaint Old Town with its famous food and flower markets.
