Malaga flight FAQs

Flights from London to Malaga take around two hours and 45 minutes.

Malaga and Marbella are at their busiest in the summer months from June to August, so you’ll find prices are often lower during the rest of the year.

There's something to suit every kind of visitor in Malaga, with budget-friendly bars and casual cafes to gourmet spots and fine dining in the elegant Old Town. You’ll pay less at locally run spots off the beaten track and away from the seafront.

There’s also a wide range of hotels and guesthouses in the area – and if you’re budget-conscious, there are plenty of all-inclusive resorts so you can plan your spending in advance.

When it comes to Malaga’s many attractions, there are usually entry fees, but they won’t break the bank. Plus, Alcazaba is free to visit on Sunday afternoons and you can enter the Picasso Museum on Sundays free of charge in the two hours before closing.

Malaga-Costa del Sol Airport is just a short 15-minute taxi ride from the city centre. It’s also well connected by public transport, with trains taking just 11 minutes from outside Terminal 3 and shuttle buses that drop you outside of central hotels.

Once you’re in Malaga you can explore the city by foot – or take advantage of the local metro, train and bus services for journeys across the city and beyond.

You can also hire a car with British Airways if you want to see more of what Malaga has to offer. You’ll receive great benefits, with all mandatory charges included and 24-hour customer support, plus you’ll collect Avios points on every rental.

Malaga’s attractive coastline is home to countless resorts, hotels, restaurants and bars so you're well set up for a sunny beach break. However, there’s much more to explore if you’re looking for a little culture.

Malaga is one of the oldest cities in Europe, so a wander through the charming Old Town is a great way to soak up its history. There are also food festivals throughout the year, an annual film festival celebrating Spanish cinema and an opera house – Teatro Cervantes – for some highbrow entertainment.

You’re also perfectly positioned to explore local whitewashed hilltop villages for glimpse at traditional Spain. And for those looking for flights to Marbella or Puerto Banus, Malaga is the go-to airport – you're only around 45 minutes from the glitzy marina and designer boutiques.
