Beginners

Tignes Val Claret has access to a couple of nursery slopes. One is in the village and served by a drag lift, the other served by the Bollin chair lift. There are plenty of schools here, including specialist snowboard schools and independent instructors.

Intermediate

Intermediates who are keen to cover lots of pistes will love staying in the Espace Killy area. There are a vast amount of blue and green runs to choose from. Snowboarders will be delighted to find a terrain park in Tignes Val Claret.

Advanced

There is a wonderful range of choice for the advanced skier in Tignes Val Claret and the surrounding areas as there are plenty of black pistes with varying terrain. Tignes is also a brilliant destination for off-piste skiing and snowboarding. With so much untouched snow, days of adventure await the intrepid skier. Hiring a guide will help you see the best of Tignes Val Claret's off-piste.

Families

ESF offer both a ski school and non-ski childcare in Tignes Val Claret. Children can be taught and given a supervised lunch. The surrounding villages provide many more choices and are linked by a free bus service.

High altitude

Tignes Val Claret's altitude is high enough to ensure snow in the village for most of the long winter season. The many surrounding peaks reach huge altitudes, often in excess of 2500 metres, with La Grande Motte serviced by a train and cable car that reaches 3456 metres.

Early & late ski season

La Grande Motte glacier means that Tignes Val Claret has access to snow almost all year long. The glacier is closed from mid-May to mid-June, and again from September to October. The general high altitude ensures that the ski season in the rest of the surrounding areas is long, too. Tignes Val Claret is a great choice for early and late season skiing.

Après ski

There are over 70 restaurants across the whole Tignes resort. An excellent breadth of cuisine can be found solely in Tignes Val Claret. Traditional Savoyard dishes and world cuisine can be found here. Val Claret is the liveliest of the five Tignes villages - especially in the early evening. This compact village has most of its nightspots concentrated in the centre, with places like Crowded House, Grizzly's Bar and L'@robaze C@fé offering music, dancing and even fancy dress nights. Night clubbers will appreciate the short trip out to Melting Pot - open into the small hours.

Non ski activities

  • Scuba diving tours under the ice
  • Aquatonic spa and fitness centre
  • Ten pin bowling
  • Dog sledding
