Beginners have so much choice around North Conway, though many choose King Pine for its high proportion of beginner slopes and diverse tuition programmes. Nearby Cranmore also has a good range of gentle slopes and offers a choice of individual or group tuition.
Wildcat will test even the most hardened skier to their limits. A guide is absolutely essential, some trails are treacherous, but they can take you through some fantastic backcountry and give you the chance to make fresh tracks in superb powder. There are several terrain parks across the area, too. Nearby Cranmore's Darkside park offers plenty of superb challenges and a lively social scene, whilst Attitash has an excellent freestyle park newly opened in 2007.
Cranmore has day care for children aged 5 months to 5 years old and ski tuition for those aged 3 and over. Wildcat offers similar nursery and tuition programmes for children. North Conway is an excellent choice for families due to the depth and variety of child tuition, nursery slopes and kindergartens. This, combined with the family-friendly après ski, makes it a great choice.
Après ski options are plentiful here in North Conway, yet the focus tends to be all about serving good food and creating a warm, family-friendly atmosphere. Nowhere more so than on the outskirts of town at Moat Mountain, which serves hearty American fare and beer brewed on the premises. In the centre of North Conway there are plenty more choices. Monte Bello offers great Italian food, whilst Coyote Rose and Delaney's provide South Western menus. Both Stonehurst and The 1785 Inn provide the ideal setting for any special occasion. For a livelier scene there are bars such as Horsefeathers and Hooligans, open late into the night, or The Up Country Saloon where you can enjoy live music and dancing.
