Ski holidays in Kitzbuhel

Ski resort of Kitzbuhel.
Overview

Great for

  • Beginner
  • Intermediate
  • Après Ski

Kitzbuhel has a great reputation in the ski world, both for its Hahnenkamm World Cup downhill race, and its fantastic après ski scene. Set at a junction of broad pretty valleys, the views of Kitzbuhel's stunning medieval architecture are beautifully framed by the mountain vistas. The narrow cobbled streets lined by gabled houses with colour-washed facades make this a very attractive resort. Nightlife here is vibrant and diverse, and it is well worth staying up late after a long day on piste. Intermediate skiers and snowboarders will love the plentiful terrain in Kitzbuhel.

Beginner

Reaching the nursery slopes surrounding Kitzbuhel can be a little inconvenient, so it's not an ideal destination for beginners. The Hahnenkamm nursery slopes, and those in Jochberg, will help quick learners progress. Snowboarding facilities are also good. All major lifts are gondolas and chair lifts.

Intermediate

Intermediates will love the choice of pistes in Kitzbuhel. Hahnenkamm boasts plenty of long blue runs. More sweeping runs stretch from Pengelstein and Ehrenbach-hohe down to the resort of Kirchberg. Kitzbuheler Horn also offers some quick pistes for more adventurous skiers. The Horn also provides a boarder-cross course, half-pipe and terrain park - complete with sound system.

Advanced

The famous Hahnenkamm World Cup downhill course is open to the public after mid-January until the end of the ski season. The very accomplished, and very brave, will love the exhilaration and challenge of skiing here. A guide will help you discover the plentiful off-piste skiing in Kitzbuhel.

Family

There is no non-skiing crèche or nursery here. As long as your family can all ski, or are keen to learn, then any of the six ski schools are good for families.

Après ski

Kitzbuhel is an excellent place for a lively night out. There's something here for a variety of tastes, from vibrant nightclubs, to sedate pubs, friendly cafés and more formal cocktail bars. Kitzbuhel offers both an impressive choice of bars and a diverse range of restaurants offering everything from fast food to haute cuisine. Dining at the top of Hahnenkamm gondola is particularly unique.

Non ski activities

  • Hang-gliding
  • Wildlife park
  • Copper mine tours
  • Hot-air ballooning
  • Ice skating
  • Curling
  • Indoor Aquarena Centre (water park)
