Killington is the largest ski resort in Eastern USA and its grand ski area caters well for all skiing abilities. Being just a few hours drive from Boston you can easily combine a skiing holiday with a city break. And as Killington is a large town having a car can be extremely useful here, although the seven mountains are all linked to surrounding lodgings by a good daytime bus service. On the slopes, the excellent snow record, long ski season and picturesque scenery combine to create a perfect destination for skiing and snowboarding. Off the slopes, Killington is a young and lively resort perfect for those seeking an action-packed skiing holiday.

Beginners

Beginners will love the facilities in Killington. The huge Snowshed slope is essentially all nursery pistes, served by three good chair lifts. Great Northern and Great Eastern offer gentle green pistes with beautiful panoramic views. Killington's ski school also has an indoor centre for absolute beginners to grasp the basics. Unique 'Meet the Mountain' tours will help increase your confidence.

Intermediate

Snowdon and Caper are good areas for intermediates to warm up on the Killington slopes. Keen intermediates will look to progress through Ramshead Mountain's fast cruising, and will aim to test themselves on Skye Peak's tougher terrain. Snowboarders will want to head for Timberline Terrain Park for a large freestyle area and its quarter-pipe.

Advanced

Bear and Snowdon Mountains, and Skye Peak, all offer some black diamond pistes that will be a good challenge for some and a great warm-up for others. Killington Peak is home to some tough double black diamond pistes that will be a stiff challenge for the most adept. There is no real off-piste in Killington, though a guide will lead you towards tree skiing in the Fusion Zones and the back country of Big K. Snowboarders will want to head to Bear Mountain for an advanced terrain park and super-pipe.

Families

There is a family centre in the Ramshead Lodge, teaching skiing for children from 2 years old and providing childcare for those aged 6 months and over. Killington's ski and snowboard school offers highly respected tuition for all ages. Whilst the aprés ski is perhaps a little boisterous for younger families, the skiing facilities are excellent and make Killington a good choice.

Après ski

Dining in Killington is varied and substantial. Over a hundred restaurants can be found in the area, where American, Asian, Italian and French restaurants vie for your appetite. Killington has a deserved reputation for a vibrant après ski scene. Here, the town's youthful atmosphere comes to the fore - partying starts in the early afternoon and continues into the night. Excellent live music is central to après ski in Killington and the resort plays host to some big names from time to time. The Wobbly Barn Steakhouse and the Pickle Barrel are just two of many great venues.
