Accessibility and site help

Our approach to accessibility focuses on ensuring ba.com is as usable as possible for you if you have access issues. We have worked together with AbilityNet, which is a national charity helping disabled people use computers and the Internet by adapting and adjusting their technology.

We are committed to ensure our website works with the preferred technologies of the vast majority of our customers, including making our site accessible if you are blind or partially sighted. We monitor which browsers, operating systems and screen solutions you use (anonymously) and how these change over time, giving us a good insight into your needs and what we need do to make using ba.com easy for you.

If you are using a test or 'BETA' version of a browser and experience problems, report these to the company supporting the browser so they can incorporate changes into future or live versions of the browser.

How to listen to ba.com

Some operating systems also have built-in accessibility features that can read text aloud, or magnify parts of the screen. If you have your own screen reading software you should find it works well on ba.com. We suggest if your software has a 'forms mode', that you do not turn it on.

Web support

We provide a dedicated web support service for customers in the UK. If you are outside of the UK please contact your local British Airways office to see if they offer a dedicated web support service.

Screen resolutions

Our site is designed for optimal use at resolutions between 800x600 to 1280x1024.

Speed of the website

We recognise that a fast website is important to you and we work hard to make the site as fast as possible, but there are factors which impact the response speed which are outside our control. They include your connection speed, the performance of your Internet Service Provider, and the amount of traffic on the Internet at the time.

Cookies

'Cookies' are small text files that we place on your computer. We use two types of cookies on ba.com:

  • Session Cookies - used to uniquely identify you throughout your visit
  • Permanent Cookies - these remember your chosen country, ensuring we always provide you with relevant pages.
    This also helps us to track unique and repeat visitors to the site but we cannot identify individual users from the cookies.

Third party cookies are used on some parts of the site for tracking the success of campaigns and promotions. These cookies are normally permanent.

Plug-ins and helpers

Plug-ins and helpers are not required for key functions on our site, but we do assume you have:

  • Flash capability - usually installed with the browser
  • Adobe Reader for .pdf files

If a plug-in or helper application is required to access content, this will normally be highlighted. Plug-ins can be downloaded using the links below. But if you use the links British Airways cannot be held responsible for any associated problems with the plug-ins.
