Seek out Tampa's Cuban-run restaurants and bars in trendy Ybor City
district, or head Downtown for upmarket international restaurants along South
Howard Avenue. Relax in beach bars and fresh seafood restaurants on Tampa
Bay's beaches.
Tampa restaurant districts
Try Tampa's best Latino restaurants in its Cuban enclave, Ybor City,
and along South Howard Avenue. Further afield, you'll find fast-food
outlets and family-friendly Tampa restaurants around Busch Gardens Africa,
offering burgers and all-you-can-eat buffets. Tuck into steaks and fresh seafood at
beachside restaurants. In the Hyde Park and Soho areas just south of
Downtown, you'll find many of Tampa's international
eateries from French to Pan Asian. Head north of Tampa to Tarpon Springs for
restaurants serving Greek cuisine such as moussaka and small plates of
meze dips and starters.
Tampa restaurant tips
You'll find food round the clock at Tampa's restaurants, bars and
cafes. Most cafes open early for breakfast, while upmarket restaurants serve late
into the evening and fast-food outlets stay open all night. Book ahead for upmarket
and popular restaurants. Check your bill before tipping; if service is not added,
it's usual to pay 10-15% extra.
Tampa bars
Head to Ybor City for Tampa's liveliest nightlife, especially around
Centro Ybor along Seventh Avenue, where there are several salsa
bars to choose from. Go to the Hyde Park area for Irish pubs and terrace bars
with live DJs. You'll find more relaxed Tampa bars in the
Channelside area near the Florida Aquarium. Or head to Clearwater
Beach, west of Tampa, for lively beach bars serving potent cocktails.
