Start the day with a good old American brunch at a Downtown cafe. Head to Denver's Victorian-era Larimer Square for chic restaurants or to the Highlands neighbourhood for funky restaurants with views across the city. Sip martinis in one of the bars and restaurants by Denver's riverfront, or try Denver beer in the Old South Gaylord area. As the sun goes down, head to the hip bars in LoDo (Lower Downtown) or get your dancing shoes on and hit an Uptown Denver bar.
Sample oysters, prime steaks and Coloradan wine in Larimer Square, home to some of Denver's most creative and upscale restaurants. Head Uptown to discover elegant restaurants, taco bars and funky cafes on Restaurant Row, or sample dishes like lobster cappuccino with American caviar in Cherry Creek's chic restaurants. Enjoy pasta in a traditional Italian restaurant in Denver's laid-back Highlands neighbourhood, or sip milky coffees in one of Old South Gaylord's fashionable street-side cafes.
For the best views of Denver and the Rockies, book an outdoor table and head to one of the restaurants in the Denver foothills, to the south-west of town. Note that most Denver restaurants tend to stop serving fairly early, around 10pm. Tipping is usually 15-20%.
Stay Downtown to sip Japanese sake, pomegranate and chocolate martinis in chic cocktail bars. Denver brews more beer than anywhere else in America so head to the Capitol Hill or Highlands areas to try local beer in a friendly neighbourhood bar, then see a rock band in one of the many cosy live-music bars. Later, head to LoDo for a night of dancing with Denver's bar-crawling hipsters.
