Prague

Bridges of Prague by night.
Overview

One of the world's most enchanting cities, you will find beautiful buildings and a fairytale atmosphere waiting for you in Prague. Looking particularly gorgeous in the snow, Prague is a great place to visit in the winter, but its many quality ice cream shops and scenic walkways mean it's lovely during the summer months too.

A city break in Prague remains good value despite its continued popularity, so choosing a trip to the historic capital can be an excellent way to soak up some of the charm of Eastern Europe. If you're looking for a break that offers many opportunities for sight-seeing, restaurants serving traditional dishes and the chance to try some of the local beers the Czech Republic is famous for, book flights to Prague today.

Explore historic Prague on holiday

Prague is a compact city bursting with a mish-mash of stunning architectural styles - including Gothic, Renaissance and Art Nouveau influences - so it's the perfect place to get out your camera and stretch your legs.  Walk the cobblestone streets of the Lesser Town (Malá Strana), pay a visit to the Old Town Square (Staré Město) and check out the Jewish Quarter (Josefov) for a real taste of Prague's historic past.

Take a stroll along  Prague's iconic Charles Bridge, which has been the main crossing over the Vtlava River for hundreds of years and has featured in films, art and literature ever since. You also won't want to miss having a closer look at Prague Castle - once home to kings and emperors, it's now home to the president of the Czech Republic.

Things to make sure you do in Prague

Pay a visit to Prague's astronomical clock in the Old Town Square to see a piece of time-telling genius, and make sure you also set a little time aside to wander the shops of the New Town (Nové Město), where you'll find designer clothes and nice mementos.

If you're visiting Prague during the winter months, make sure you pay a visit to the annual Christmas markets, where you'll find a range of sweet and savoury treats - hot, candied almonds are a great way to keep your hands warm while browsing, as is a cup of spiced wine. Winter is also an ideal time for romantic breaks in Prague, as the buildings in the centre are strewn with fairy lights and the atmosphere is perfect for couples.

After the sun sets in Prague

Prague is a cultural capital, so you'll be able to find everything from ballet performances to lively nightclubs in its various venues, and there are many different evening entertainments to choose from.

Wind down a perfect day of sightseeing by dining in one of the many fine restaurants in Prague, where traditional Eastern European favourites are served up with a distinctive Czech twist. Dine on roast pork with sliced dumplings, or marinated beef with potato pancakes, before heading to clubs, pubs and other features of the trend-setting nightlife in Prague.
