Flight connections

How to transfer between terminals
If you are transferring between terminals, you can walk or take the LAX Airport Shuttle bus 'A'.
Please check airport monitors to ensure you proceed to the correct terminal.
If transferring within a terminal, follow signs to the departure gate.

Terminal 4 serves:

  • all American Airlines and American Eagle destinations
  • all Qantas flights to Brisbane (QF16, QF26)

Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT) serves:

  • international destinations on American Airlines codeshare
  • all flights on British Airways, Cathay Pacific, JAL Japan Airlines, LAN.
  • Qantas flights to Sydney/Melbourne/Auckland (QF11/QF12, QF15, QF25, QF93/QF94, QF107/QF108) and to New York JFK

USA Domestic arrivals to International departures other than American Airlines or Qantas non-stop flights to Sydney:

  • Exit Terminal 4 and turn left.
  • Tom Bradley International Terminal is the first terminal on the left after exiting Terminal 4.

International arrivals on British Airways, Cathay Pacific, LAN, JAL or Qantas:

  • Clear immigration and customs.
  • After clearing customs, re-check your baggage at the transfer area.
  • For connections in Terminal 4 proceed outside the terminal, turn right, Terminal 4 is the first terminal on the right after exiting Tom Bradley International Terminal.

Connections within Tom Bradley International Terminal:

  • Follow signs through intransit area to International departure gate.

Airport Shuttle Bus:

  • Go to lower ground level and proceed to the roadway island with signs marked LAX Airport Shuttle 'A'.
  • Buses run every 7-10 minutes between terminals. The bus is white with blue/green stripes and marked LAX Airport Shuttle 'A'.

How long does it take to transfer between terminals?

  • Walking between Terminal 3, Terminal 4 and Tom Bradley International Terminal takes approximately 5 - 10 minutes (This does not include walking time from and to departure gates).
  • The airport shuttle bus runs every 7 - 10 minutes and takes 45 minutes from Terminal 4 to TBIT and 10 minutes from TBIT to Terminal 4.

oneworld Lounges (First and Business Class)

  • Location details: Tom Bradley International Terminal, Departure Level 5
  • Opening hours:
    Friday - Monday, Wednesday 06:30 - 01:30
    Tuesday and Thursday 09:00 - 01:30

Note: Access to First Class Lounges is restricted to Emerald members and those travelling in First Class.

Admirals Club (American Airlines)

  • Location details: Terminal 4, on the Concourse level across from Gate 40
  • Opening hours: Daily 05:00 - 00:30

Flagship Lounge (American Airlines)

  • Location details: Terminal 4, across from Gate 40, entrance through Admirals Club lounge
  • Opening hours: Daily 05:15 - 24:00

Note: Access to First Class Lounge is restricted to Emerald members or those travelling in First Class.

International Lounge (Japan Airlines)

  • Location details: Tom Bradley International Terminal, Departure Level 4
  • Opening hours: Daily 06:00 to last departure

Note:
At peak periods, access to certain lounges may be restricted due to capacity constraints. Access is available on the day of departure when the next onward flight is with a oneworld member airline. Access may not apply at a limited number of third party lounges.

The ground transportation desk in the baggage claim areas of all terminals provides information about transport to and from the airport.

Train services

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) operates 200 Metro Bus lines (buses) as well as four Metro Rail lines (subway) in and around Los Angeles.

The nearest train station to LAX airport is Aviation Station. A free shuttle bus operates from the lower level of all terminals to Aviation Station on the Metro Green Line.

Taxis

Taxis are available on the Arrivals level of all terminals. The journey to and from downtown Los Angeles takes 25 to 50 minutes depending on the traffic.
