London City airport is situated in the heart of the City of London. There is one terminal at the airport.

Club World London City - our Business Class only service to New York

Club World London City is our 32-seat Business Class only service between London City airport and New York JFK.

It couldn't be easier to travel to the airport from the City of London and we have arranged much shorter check-in times for your convenience.

You can also use a British Airways check-in kiosk to print your baggage tags even if you have already printed your boarding pass at home. When you have printed your baggage tags, please drop your tagged baggage at one of the Bag Drop desks.

You can take advantage of OnAir capability during the flight, allowing you to send emails or texts from your mobile phone. 

You will clear customs at Shannon* en route to New York, speeding up your journey through the airport on arrival in New York.

The entire experience is designed to maximise your time, so you arrive in New York relaxed and ready for business.

*From 28 October 2012 this service will be available on flight BA001 only.

Check-in facilities at the airport

Print your boarding pass

To save time at the airport you can use Manage My Booking to check in 24 hours before your flight and print your boarding pass at home.

If you have used online or mobile check-in and need to print your boarding pass at the airport, you can collect it from a check-in kiosk or a check-in desk.

You can also use a British Airways check-in kiosk to print your baggage tags even if you have already printed your boarding pass at home. When you have printed your baggage tags, please drop your tagged baggage at one of the Bag Drop desks.

Bag Drop

If you are travelling with hand baggage only and have already printed your boarding pass, you can go straight through security to the gate.

You can also use a British Airways check-in kiosk to print your baggage tags even if you have already printed your boarding pass at home. When you have printed your baggage tags, please drop your tagged baggage at one of the Bag Drop desks.

If you have checked in before arriving at the airport but need to drop off your checked baggage, go to one of our Bag Drop desks.

Opening times:

  • Bag Drop desk opens on day of departure 2 hours before flight departure time (first Bag Drop desk opens at 0530).
  • Check-in desks open at 0500.

  • 23 check-in kiosks
  • 4 check-in and bag drop desks

Check in and clear security on time

Please ensure you are familiar with the check-in and boarding times used at London City airport as they differ from other London airports.

  • You must pass through check-in no later than 15 minutes before your flight.
  • You must be at your boarding gate at least 10 minutes before your flight.

If you do not meet these times, you will not be allowed on to your flight.

When you transfer from one flight to another in London, you need to make sure you get to your next flight on time. The London airports are located some distance apart.

Do I need to pick up my bags or check in again?

If your bags have been labelled through to your onward flight destination, and you have been given a boarding pass for your next flight, you do not have to pick up your bags.

If your baggage receipt shows the destination 'LHR', 'LGW' or 'LON', you must collect your baggage at Arrivals/Baggage Reclaim before checking in for your next flight.

What should I do if I do not have a boarding pass?

If you do not have a boarding pass for your connecting British Airways flight, you will have to check in. Simply follow the Flight Connections signs and make your way to a Customer Service Desk where a member of British Airways staff will be able to assist you.

If your flight is with another airline, please see an airline representative.

Where should I go if I need assistance?

If you require assistance, your flight arrives late or you miss your onward flight connection, please see a member of the British Airways Customer Service team.

Docklands Light Railway

The Docklands Light Railway takes you directly to and from London City Airport. The station is situated 50 metres from the airport terminal and trains run approximately every 7 minutes to and from Canning Town, which links to the London Underground network. The journey time is about 10 minutes.

The nearest London Underground station to the airport is Canning Town, on the Jubilee Line, where you can connect directly to and from London City Airport via Docklands Light Railway. The journey time is about 10 minutes.

London City Airport is situated just 10 miles from the West End and Westminster, 6 miles from the City of London and 3 miles from Canary Wharf.

Travelling by taxi

There is a licensed taxi rank directly outside the terminal building. The journey to or from Central London (West End) will cost about £50, depending on traffic.
