Discover Oman

Oman city breaks

Take a city break in mystical Muscat. Wander through souks, gaze at hypnotising mosques, immerse yourself in the friendly culture and absorb the striking surroundings. See Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, visit markets for incense and pashminas, then relax by the palm trees of Qurum Beach. Venture to Jebel Akhdar, the Green Mountain, for mesmerising views. See more of Muscat’s surroundings, discover the Ancient Forts of Nizwa, explore the nature park of Wadi Al Arbeieen or stay close to the city centre and make a visit to the Royal Opera House.

Al Hajar Mountains

Just south of Muscat, lies the Al Hajar mountain range. Venture to a landscape of canyons, mountain peaks and rejuvenating oases. Take to jaw-dropping hiking trails, or go rock climbing and abseiling for an adrenaline-fuelled experience. Look out for camels crossing valley rivers and soak up the sublime surroundings. Stay on the dramatic limestones slopes of the Jebel Akhdar, the highest mountain in the region. At the luxurious Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar you can take a dip in the infinity pool, or wine and dine on the canyon platform – watch the sky turn pink at sunset, then stay out gazing at the stars. Elsewhere, enjoy the mountain air at the striking, intimate Alila Jabal Akhdar, where all rooms, the yoga deck, and the sumptuous spa, have stunning views.

Salalah

Journey to the thriving subtropical capital of the Dhofar province – where the landscape is luscious compared to the dusty north. Enjoy the colours here, outside of the monsoon season – which runs between June and September. Discover cascading waterfalls, unwind on pearly sand beaches and visit a banana plantation or archaic fort. Stay at the blissful Al Baleed Resort Salalah and savour the incredible panoramic seafront sights. Enjoy local excursions from the city centre, then take time out in the hotel spa. Treat yourself to beach dining, with tasty cuisine and an atmospheric setting.
