The Gold Coast’s golfing opportunities are sure to meet your expectations and then some. But there are lots of other sporting activities to try on your Gold Coast holiday.
The Gold Coast also has excellent and varied surfing conditions and other sporting attractions, both in the water, including fishing and diving, and on land, including tennis and cycling.
Because of the year-round great weather, the Gold Coast boasts surfing conditions to suit all skill levels and styles. In Jupiter, Palm Beach and Boca Raton there are beaches offering everything from powerful breaks for experienced thrill seekers to small swells for beginners. Really ambitious surfers should head up to Palm Beach’s Reef Road to catch the strongest waves in the area.
The warm Gold Coast waters play host to a dazzling array of colourful marine life, including the state’s famous sea turtles, making this one of the finest scuba areas in the world. There’s exciting wreck diving and a variety of opulent reefs. The artificial reef programme off Palm Beach has developed into a particularly spectacular draw for divers — a highlight is the huge 400ft Princess Anne car ferry sunken wreck.
Golfers will find themselves spoilt for choice on the Gold Coast, with over thirty courses in Fort Lauderdale and Boca Raton and prices to suit all pockets.
Take a boat with a local guide out onto the deep Gulf Stream waters and experience the thrill of angling for white and blue marlin, tuna, kingfish, amberjack, snapper and more. The hundreds of barrier islands also mean sailing is a great way to experience the coast.
In the run up to the season opening in April, many Pro Baseball teams hold spring training camps in the Gold Coast, and going to watch them play is a great introduction to America’s favourite pastime.
