Waldorf Astoria New York

This iconic hotel offers great value for money. Situated in a landmark building with a unique heritage and an enviable location on Park Avenue at 50th Street. The Waldorf Astoria New York was one of the first grand hotels to open in New York City. Today, it retains many of its exquisite original features, such as the art deco lobby with its famous president-face clock. Its traditional approach to decor gives it a cosy and intimate atmosphere, despite having more than 800 rooms. The rooms and suites are well-equipped with a minibar, internet access and premium TV. They are all provided with a daily newspaper and have access to 24 hour housekeeping. Facilities include a state of the art fitness centre, which provides access to some top personal trainers. There is also an indulgent Guerlain luxury spa. The spa, which opened in Autumn 2008, occupies an entire floor of the hotel and offers a range of indulgent treatments. There is a wide selection of dining options available for guests. These range from cocktails in Sir Harry's Bar to the lavish Sunday Brunch in Peacock Alley. There is also a steakhouse, a Japanese restaurant and an American brasserie. The cocktail terrace serves traditional teas Wednesday - Sunday during the afternoon and cocktails in the evening. Part of the hotel's appeal is its unequalled heritage. Home to the original Waldorf Salad, the hotel was built by William Waldorf Astor on the site of his former mansion. When it opened it was the tallest hotel in the world. Four years later, the Waldorf was joined by its sister hotel, the Astoria. The corridor built to connect the two buildings has become an enduring symbol of the combined Waldorf and Astoria hotels. Situated just a few blocks from the Rockefeller Centre, Saks and the best of 5th Avenue's shopping.
