Star spotting
On your approach to Palm Beach, look out for the red-roofed Italianate tower of Mar-a Largo, owned by Donald Trump, or the sprawling colonial style house near Via la Selva that was once home to John Lennon and Yoko Ono.
These aren't the only celebrities to have made Palm Beach their home. And one of the favourite pastimes for visitors is to simply cruise around the island, looking at the magnificent mansions, before heading somewhere chi chi like Café l'Europe for a bit of celebrity spotting.
Sophisticated shopping
Stroll down Worth Avenue, the world famous street flanked by designer stores and high-class art galleries with classic cars cruising by - if only for a bit of window shopping. If window shopping isn't your thing, the stucco walls and crafted Roman facades are some of the exquisite architectural details that will demand your attention.
Flagler Museum
Don't miss the Henry Morrison Flagler Museum - an outrageously luxurious house that was a wedding gift from Henry Flagler to his third wife Mary Lily Kenan. The European-influenced architecture is stunning but it is the sheer ostentatious decadence that is to be marvelled at.
The beach
The beach, when you get around to it, is completely in keeping with the sophisticated elegance of the area with diving to match. An artificial reef was created here to protect the reef and it is now a big attraction for divers.
